We came here after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor - we stayed in a private room with shared bathroom which seemed good value in comparison to other hostels we researched online. Pros Good warm showers (downstairs) Free Coffee Free use of hairdryer Helpful staff Free computers Good location Good information on surrounding area Cons Breakfast could be better Distant music... Just got back from a quick trip to Bogota, and el Hostal Martinik couldn't have been more ideally situated. Close to everything and on a safe, well lit street in La Candelaria which is important because some of the streets are very quiet and returning home at night can be a bit dangerous. Reto and Yolanda are super attentive and... More

Great staff & good location, close to Museo del Oro Transmilenio. Lovely folk. Beds weren't the most comfortable, and our private bathroom had an opening to the neighbouring bathroom - and associated noises. Hot shower was a bit of a trickle to get it actually hot. All of this is pretty basic & expected. I was personally really disappointed in... More

Great location, great staff, great facilities, great choice! There is averything you can thing of - washing mashine, well equipped kitchen, tv room, video games... It's really clean, the staff really helpful assisting with anything you need. Only the room heading to the street is little bit noisy. This though cannot push the overall positive experience.

After two eurotrips and 3months in southamerica, i have to say, that this is the hostel with the friendliest staff ive ever meet! They know bogota very well and r therefor giving good advices! I stayed there for about a month, met tons of amazing people, including the owner and the staff, just lovely. The breakfast was good and the bedrooms tidy.

We booked into this hostal because the reviews said it was nice and not a party hostal. It was clean and the facilities were good. However, the beds could have been better and the girls at reception were not very helpful, they preferred to giggle with each other than be hospitable. People smoked in the kitchen by the extractor (which... More

Management response:

Hi there, i am happy to say that we improved the service on the reception, also we have now a smoking area in the back side of the hostel and also we have now quality duvets and strechy bed sheets that you can feel at home. More

I stayed just one night at Martinik Hostal, as I was in between 2 planes. The location is great, you have everything within walking distance. Beds are comfortable and dorms are spacious. However, the hostal 'rules' state that it should be quiet after 11pm, but the staff organised a jam session which lasted till 1 or 2am... That was kind... More

Management response:

Sorry about this mistake. We do not have more Jam Sessions and take a look that the hostel is a quite one after 12 pm. More

We stayed here in March 2010 after a similarly priced place lost our reservation. It's clean and really basic with nice guests, staff, and backpacker amenities. However, if you want to sleep from 11pm to 8am, stay elsewhere. The sounds of socializing from the common area downstairs easily carry upstairs into the rooms and make sleep almost impossible. We switched... More

Come to check us out. Now it is very quite at night. We try do have a large area of activities but most are outside of the hostel. Inside we have quite times from 12 pm and it works very well. More

The staff are quite nice, but only speak Spanish and cannot give you any good advice about the city or travelling around Bogota. Miguel, who I think is the owner?, is helpful, but not there much. Our room was not clean. And the beds were uncomfortable. But it's a really nice building. There is free coffee, cereal, and internet.
