Although this is listed as a hostel it had a hotel feel about it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and from the moment you're given a complimentary drink upon arrival you feel very welcome. Our room was basic but comfortable and the building itself is rather special with a covered court yard and hammocks and chairs. We only... More

Bogota is a special place. But also not easy to read. Casa Platypus was the perfect spot to lay back for a few moments. Great location. Very close to gold museum, Monserrate, Plaza Bolivar etc. On weekends it can be a bit loud outside as Hotel is in the heart of bars and restaurants. Had nice dinner at Gato Gris.... More

We stayed at Casa Platypus for two nights, the first couple of nights of our trip. We arrived at 5am on a Sunday morning and we're put in room 17 with a party in full flow in the flats behind us. No idea why as the place wasn't full, we'd been travelling for nearly a day, overnight and came armed... More

We stayed at Casa Platypus for four nights in July, 2015. We cannot say enough positive things about the staff, location and building itself. We were traveling from New York, and it was our first time in Colombia. As two tourists who often backpack, but are getting a little older (!) we wanted a place with a backpacker/community feel (and... More

The place is centrally located, but maybe we were unlucky as we arrived in the weekend, there was nothing to do, and was kind of creepy in the night. The hostal uses natural feather blankets and pillows, which for some reason I am allergic to. It took me until 4 am to find out that was the reason I couldn't... More

This is a pleasant casa. However, we were extremely disappointed to discover there were NO platypi anywhere. And we looked hard. One of the main reasons we stayed is that my daughter,Lila, is a platypus fanatic. We found no other egg-bearing mammals either. Breakfast was nice.

The location of Casa Platypus can't be beat. Walking distance to pretty much any major attraction if you're there for 2-3 days. The staff are excellent, and went out of their way to help us. (And for those whose Spanish is not good, they also speak English). The building is super cute, and the rooms are well-appointed. The only complaint... More

German made a dream come true: He put up the perfect hostel in Bogota. The location is just next to Las Aguas bus stop, but still within the boundary of the historic Candelaria district where you can find some of the top museums, fine restaurants and bars. Within a few hundred meters is a bank with an ATM, a laundry... More

A terrific hostel in a great location. Yes our room may have been on the small side and the price a little on the 'big' side, but the bed was superb and the bathroom also. Breakfast excellent and the staff (Roman especially) very helpful. Looking forward to our next stay!
