Defenitely one of the cheapest places to stay at with a good location. But next time in LaPaz i will find another place to stay. The beds are old and uncomfy, some of the staff is not very helpfull, almost unfriendly. The kitchen,(which your not allowed to use in the evening) is not nice, neither is the showers. if you... The hostel is placed in very central location. It is very clean, internet worked well even in the room (r10). Nice felling among the guests, private room was cheaper than a bed dorm in other hostels. If only the bed/mattress was nice it would have made the dream hostel in La Paz!

Yes there are hot showers and decent wifi. However, this place is extremely run down. Pitiful rooms with terrible beds. Kitchen closes at 8 (?), no breakfast, unfriendly staff. Thin walls so you can hear your neighbors conversations all night. And very cold (no real ceiling, windows are open or broken in winter). Very cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. Not social... More

Even though the first place I stayed in La Paz was awesome, I like to try new places. So I decided to try Hostal Austria, my second time in La Paz. It's up a hill off of Plaza Murillo. The entrance is not on the street. You have to walk through a stairwell to the second floor. I wasn't sure... More

The place is located in a good location, with Sagarnaga Street, Mercado Lanza and Bus Terminal all within walking distance. The building looks ancient from the outside but once you enter the hostel itself, you may just feel like you are home (a vintage one though). I stayed in a double bed room and the bed was comfortable. It has... More

The hostel is a little bit on the oldschool side, and most of the rooms are not very well ventilated as the windows look out to the inside of the building. On the upside, the rooms are spacious and there are enough blankets to stay warm at night. The wi-fi is slow but mostly reliable. The staff is superhelpful and... More

We stayed here twice three months apart from eachother. Our first time in Bolivia and when we were coming back through. The rooms are cool they're big and have interesting vintage furniture. The only room that we didn't like and had to switch was the one next to the main road with a place across the street blaring rock music.... More

I am really disappointed from this stay at the hostel: we stayed in a double room and the bed was the most unvomfortable I ever slept in - I still have back-acke. The matrass is really hard, old and goes towards the middle so that sleeping in two is slightly impossible. And, the rooms don't have windows, which means it... More

There is no internet at all, if you are lucky you'll get 5 mins per day of very slow connection) and when you ask for help on the issue they act as they don't care. Similar with hot water, it doesn't work all the time, and water in La Paz is really cold!! Beds are all in bad shape and... More

We stayed three nights at Hostal Austria - seems almost frozen in time (sixties or seventies, of the 20th century), but very clear and tidy. It's a quiet and friendly place, the staff is very helpful and has only rooms with shared bathrooms. The showers are hot (heated by gas), but the gas cylinder is inside one of the bathrooms,...
