We had a short stay at the Presidente in downtown La Paz. It is an old hotel with standard service and rooms needing an urgent refurbishment. Do not like the service at breakfast nor the quality of food and service at the restaurant. By far not a five star hotel !! more

I loved this place for the pure kitsch value - it's straight out of a seventies film - I was surprised that I didn't bump into Robert de Niro or Michelle Pfeiffer coming out of the lift! The mirrored ceiling in reception, the dusky blue bathroom suite, thick-pile carpet, dial up telephones, retro chandeliers and bar stools in the top-floor... more

After touring Peru and working our way down to Bolivia through Lake Titicaca we arrived in La Paz and the Presidente La Paz. This hotel recieved it's 5 star status in 1996 and it has gone down hill since then. The rooms are in need of a refurbishment but clean. The staff was cordial, the free internet welcomed and the... more

Anyone who has travelled through Bolivia will not only be fully aware of how beautiful the country is, but also how difficult and stressful it can be getting about. By the time my partner and I had reached La Paz we were exhausted and in desperate need of some "luxury"! While we certainly didn't get that here, we did get... more

We stayed at the Hotel Presidente twice for single nights, either side of a trip to the Salar de Uyuni. It is very well located close to the Plaza de San Francisco and the main shopping streets. The staff were OK but not outstanding and the 5 stars struck us as a gross exaggeration. Our suites were large and clean... more

After a 16-hour busride we decided to treat ourselves to a good hotel. We didn't regret going to Hotel Presidente! We got the whole 5 star treatment for just US$60! I even thought that I had misunderstood the gentleman at the counter, but no such thing: we were charched only 60 bucks for two persons in a great luxury suite,... more

This is what most people would call a luxury hotel. The rooms are huge with their own seating area, closets and large, comfortable beds. The bathrooms are marble and spacious. The hotel provides all the services that one would expect e.g. free internet, room service, etc. There is a spa, swimming pool, gym and even a disco in this hotel.... more

I stayed at the El Presidente July 27th and July 28th. I found the staff very hospitable. I came down with a stomach bug so the first thing I did when I got to my room was order room service. The staff was very accomadating, considering I don't speak very good Spanish. I food and drinks came within 30 minutes... more

I spent the first week traveling in the remote southern area of Bolivia, so the Hotel Presidente was a real treat! Hot showers and toilets once again! Whoohoo! I found the staff to be entirely accommodating, especially with our requests to do video interviews onsite. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and with large bathrooms. The restaurant serves a great... more

I agree with everything said by the last review. It is a bit dated, but views, staff, location, breakfast, rooms etc etc are all very good. more
