This is a hotel which is centrally located and in a beautiful colonial house. It is however very overpriced for the services offered and in a loud location. There are many other hotels in this bracket that are far superior and quieter. The staff is helpful. I would recommend if it was at half the going rate.

We based ourselves at the El Consulado in LaPaz for 3 weeks on on off while we did treks and other tours around Bolivia. Each time the stay and service was amazing. Such a quaint little gem. We were also able to leave our luggage with them which we did not take trekking and it was not a problem. jewellery,... More

Booked via hotel.com for 100$CAN. Used their airport transfer service for 15US$ and a gentleman was awaiting for me at the exit. Was whisked away to hotel. Check in was quick and was provided a large room with high ceiling, antique furniture, king bed with a somewhat lumpy mattress, no TV, a big bathroom with a somewhat small shower, view... More

Taxi from the airport was a fixed price of 70 Bolivianos. Upon arrival check in went relatively smooth. We were happy that they took our bags to the second floor because there is no elevator and La Paz is at almost 4000 meters. We had the suite which was very large and clean. The room was decorated in the old... More

While the place is very charming and the staff is very friendly, staying at this hotel proved to be more uncomfortable than I had imagined. The rooms downstairs get very cold at night, which is a problem considering the temperatures in La Paz. The ones upstairs don't have black-out curtains, so once it gets light in the morning is nearly... More

We loved El Consulado from the minute we stepped through the door. Sandwiched between high rise buildings it was a breath of fresh air to have such character and history in the centre of La Paz. The staff were extremely professional and helpful with organising taxis and storing our luggage whilst we went to Copacabana before returning for a final... More

Seemingly some other people had a bad experience but we really loved to be there in room number 7. We spent two nights there which where of great service by the staff, tranquil and quiet. As quiet as a big city will be. The room was big, nicely decorated, tidy and clean. The breakfast was perfect and served nicely by... More

Our room was on the ground floor right next to the reception area. We had a nice welcome and the reception staff were helpful in advising on restaurants and making bookings for us. Unfortunately as we were on the ground floor and right next to a school/college the room was really noisy right up in to the evening time. The... More

We liked the hotel from the first moment on and kept prolonging our stay. The location is the former consulate of Panama - it has a nice antique style, high ceilings, wooden floors and a pretty little garden in the very center of La Paz. The staff ist very friendly and as the hotel is small, service is personal but... More

A very pleasant stay. Privately owned, modestly converted from a 100-year old villa one block behind La Paz's centre, with just a few well-proportioned high-ceilinged room. Outside is pretty garden. Food is nice. Monique on reception has excellent English and was kind and helpful. I'd certainly go back.
