La Paz can be an overwhelming city. Also I was there during Carnivale! El Consulado is a little piece of Paradise to rest, recover and launch out into the busy city. Breakfast is simple, but tasty. They made me a breakfast 'to go' when I checked out at 6am. Staff are excellent. The manager also runs a tour company downstairs... More

We paid US$282 for a presidential suite and was put on ground floor next to the small reception and facing the road . You can hear the receptionist and staff talking and car noises and music . There was no tv only a small radio and it was plug to loosely wire wall plug . Only two power points to... More

Perfectly situated 1 minute from el prado. The staff were very professional and service minded. The rooms are big and with an atmosphere of an old consulate. The breakfast is delicious . A great advantage is that the travel agency Topas is in the basement of the hotel. They will help you with all excursions and travels in Bolivia. We... More

El Consulado was elegant, beautiful, and quiet - the rooms had ridiculously high ceilings and we had an amazing claw foot bathtub. It was just what we needed after returning from our Uyuni salt flat tour. We were pleasantly surprised when we were allowed to check in when we arrived at 7am, fresh off the overnight bus from Uyuni. This small, charming hotel has very comfortable rooms, good beds, nice bathrooms and dependable wifi. The breakfasts are excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had a very early flight and the staff woke us, had a taxi waiting and had prepared a boxed lunch. Taxi drivers don't know this hotel or the street it is on... More

Large room with high ceiling, antique bath. Very good breakfast and excellent service: when we left very early they made us a good boxed breakfast; we forgot a book and they sent it to our next accommodation (no charge).

We stayed here twice on our trip. Both times we had a large downstairs room with lots of space and many antiques. Very comfortable bed, lots of storage space and room to spread out. Only 1 block from the Prado. Delicious breakfasts. Juan Carlos (who also operates a travel agency) and the other staff were very helpful. When leaving we... More

This is undoubtedly a beautiful house once one peers past the graffiti on the front wall; but the entrance is so filled with goods for sale that it feels more like a shop than a welcoming hotel. Reception is friendly. Each room is different, with antique furniture, but the fact that some do not have bedheads spoils the effect. Ours... More
