I stayed here for one night last week and, although i'd booked for two, i checked out the next morning. Having read the reviews, I wasn't expecting anything fancy and figured it would be clean, tired and comfortable. It was clean and it was tired but it wasn't comfortable and after a lot of hours on the road, that was... More

Stayed here while touring Syria. Perfect place if you don't need the most modern stuff. Quite clean and quite faded. It must have been something in its day and the location is great. Room was largest we had on our trip to Syria and had a balcony and was quiet. Nothing seems to have been touched in years so the... More

Good hotel, near the souq. I asked for a quiet room and we got one at the back of the hotel. The rooms are large and furnished with cool vintage furniture. Large balcony overlooking a back street :) Good beds, although the pillows are synthetic, which was the case in all hotels in Syria I slept in. The bathroom is... More

I'm glad we did not read the previous reviews before visiting this hotel which ended up being a highlight of our trip to Syria and one of our most enjoyable stays in the course of a 2 month trip to the middle east. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, spacious, safe and very centrally located hotel in Damascus... More

We stayed only one night and yes the hotel hasn't been touched since it was built but our room was spacious, clean with a new airconditioner (the old soviet model was still in the wall together with exposed wires) The fridge worked once we plugged it in and we propped it straight with a book. TV worked. The bathroom was large... More

Faded elegance is stretching it... we arrived late and after walking up the long insitutional corridors, with strip lighting and exposed electrics we arrived at our room. Large, with high ceilings, brown dusty carpet....and an air conditioning unit that looked like a piece of 1930's large soviet farm equipment that refused to work. We swapped rooms, but felt like making... More

....Well after a dreadful night in an other Damascus hotel I moved here for 4 nights. A great big Deco pile of a place which must have been quit glamorous in the 20's. It has suffered badly from years of neglect (the painters/decorators must have been handed a pot of brown paint, a thick brush & a blindfold!) The rooms... More

We stayed at the Orient Palace for 5 nights because everything else was sold out. We ended up moving twice (once at the hotel's request due to booking conflicts and once on our request due to nastiness of room) The bed's mattress was so old you sunk down into a hole. The carpet is pretty fusty, but worst of all,... More
