stayed 4 nights in this lovely hotel at the end of october. Management and staff were very helpful: they gave me a hand with visa (I did not have time to organize one before leaving home...), found me another hotel for one night as they were fully booked, helped me when I needed to organize the rest of my trip... more

Lovely and original small hotel with very attentive and helpful staff, apart from one very unlikeable cook who served brekkie and reacted with indignation when we asked if it would be possible to get freshly squeezed orange juice from the oranges which were served for breakfast. Fantadticly peaceful courtyard around which the rooms are arranged, very lovely. Make sure you... more

A wonderfully pleasant spot to set up camp in Damascus; this hotel's peaceful atmosphere makes it a most welcome retreat from the surrounding bustling streets. Our two young children, (three and 11 months) pottered happily around the tranquil courtyard with its trickling fountain and made great friends with the staff, all of whom we found to be truly warm and... more

We stayed at the Old VIne and had an excellent stay. To really appreciate the charm of Damascus you need to stay in the old town and in a converted house - both of which the Old Vine offers. We would chill out in the courtyard in the the afternoons whilst our 1 year was sleeping and it was very... more

The only negative on the Old Vine is its location, which is also a plus. Arriving from Damascus airport, we had checked the hotel's address and location on line and had printed a map. However, our taxi driver had no idea where it was, and we ended up walking around the Old City for about 30 mins until we stumbled... more

We booked the Old Vine as a "luxury" start to our trip to Syria, and from the moment of arrival it was a disappointment. We had booked a car through the Old Vine to collect us from the airport, but alas, nothing showed. Ten phone calls later, the best advice offered by their staff was to get a cab. We... more

We found this hotel through trip advisor and it was a great way to finish our trip to Syria. Spent three nights and really enjoyed the hotel, the breakfast, and the location was fantastic - close to everything so we could walk to things with the children and come back and relax when they were tired. Staff were very friendly... more

Found this gem of a hotel through TripAdvisor. Quaint 17th century-style refurbished guesthouse in the middle of Damascus' Old City. The location alone is worth the stay, with amenities like high-speed Internet, boutique rooms and an incredibly hospitable staff as added bonuses. A note for business travelers: they don't have a business center but will gladly let you use their... more

From being greeted at the airport by a hotel representative to leaving and needing to find or taxi, the staff of the Old Vine Hotel couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Each member of staff took ownership of the hotel; nothing we requested was too much trouble. The Old Vine is in a wonderful location for all cultural and... more

This hotel is absolutely delightful. It is one of only half a dozen or boutique hotels in Damascus that are converted ancient houses. This is possibly the closest one into the centre of the Old City. It's about 2-5 minutes walk from Souq Hamidiyyeh, Azem Palace and the Ummayad Mosque. The staff were lovely and helpful and a porter came... more
