The Hotel has a very ethnic ambience and staff very courteous and eager to help. One instantly feels welcome. Rooms offer world-class facilities and attention has been paid to details. The Breakfast spread at the main Restaurant is fabulous. The club Room upstairs offers a wide variety of snacks and Internet Terminals etc - plus a great view ! more

The coffee shop on the lower level and the bar on the ground level were memorable. The bar provided good entertainment almost all nights with live western bands in attendance. The crowd was participative too, inspite of all not all being hotel residents. Relaxed pool view and courteous staff in attendance. Room Service was never a problem. more

The intercontinental is a high class hotel chain, which had the first 5* hotel in Muscat. Unfortunately the hotel management now missed to organise a complete make over. The exterior view of the hotel looks like a big bunker, as the entrance hall is very impressive. The worst point actually is the pool area. The fittings and surroundings have not... more

the building itself definitely looks dated from the outside and it is hard to understand why they don't simply plaster and/or at least paint it white on the outside the lobby area and restaurants don't look special but they do look like they have been updated recently. we had a club room on the 5th floor (the non-smoking club level)... more

We stayed in the Intercontinental hotel for 2 nights it was our special few days together as my husband had just finished working in Abu Dhabi for 4 months. I had read some of the reviews and even though some of them commented on the dated look of the hotel and rooms this did not prepare us for what we... more

My husband and my six year old son and I stayed at the Muscat Intercon for a week in October 2008. The hotel is old, it was built in 1977 when there was nothing around it except beach and sand....but you would not know this from the inside. The lobby was clean, sparkly and exactly what you would expect from... more

I stayed in the intrCon in early Sep 2008 for 2 nights on a business mission. Hotel is not new but with spacious renonvated rooms and inviting lobby that compensates for that. I had a nice room overlooking the graden and the pool and the view was beautiful from up there. Staff seems abit worn out but they were friendly... more

Nice and comfortable hotel. Good for business. For Intercontinental, would not say is of exceptional standard. Trader Vic's and Senor Pico are both recommended restaurants. Swimming pool is great for lap swim. more

We stayed in the Intercontinental Muscat for 13 days in April/May 2008. After reading the reviews on this hotel I did not want to stay here but as I was accompanying my husband on a business trip and the company had selected this hotel we did not have a choice. We also stayed at the Shangri-la for our actual family... more

Although the Intercontinental is an older hotel vs. all the new ones being built, it is a very reliable choice. The hotel is still in very good shape. Their grounds are beautiful and since it is so centrally located, the hotel is actually a favorite sports club with the locals. Two nice swimming pools with lively scenes. A great selection... more
