On my first night in town, had my friend "Eddy M" tag along with me so I can give him a gift that I got for him. We were stopped and asked for proof that I'm staying here, I presented him with the keys and told him the room number. The employees then told me that my friend is not... More

It's is claimed the Mutrah is Oman's oldest hotel. It's one of the features that makes it out of the ordinary. For a family of four it's the best deal in Muscat. It has a cosy bar that's open til 3am. The restaurant though a little gloomy has good Indian food at reasonable prices. The locale isn't glamourous and it... More

So my friend checks in to this restaurant, and calls me to visit him, as we're going towards the room. The staff stops us and says I can't go, he talks with them in arabic since he's an arab and then they ask me my nationality, the moment I say that I'm from india. they immediately refuse me from entering with... Found this hotel on the Lonely Planet website. My stay in Muscat was a last minute decision and this seemed like a good hotel until I found something different. I thought the quality was very good compared to the marginally cheaper hotels closer to the water and so I ended up staying for a week and using this hotel as... More

Now remember for a start tjis hotel was the first in Oman apparently. It is therefore old but in an odd way thus is part of its charm. Although everything seems like its stuck in the 1970s it doesn't feel too worn and is kept extremely clean and well maintained. A Shangri la it is not but then if you... More

The hotel is clean and rooms not smelly, which is good. Run by Indians - generally peaceful and friendly. GAZEBO RESTAURANT -- White Sari wearing over weight Indian woman was very grumpy -- served everyone with a frawn -- obviously tense and unhappy. They make the place extremely dark. I've never seen a restaurant so dark. Looks like those restaurants... More

This is not a posh hotel, but it is well priced in expensive Muscat. The breakfast buffett has good choice and the staff are helpful . The staff on the desk were helpful and the rooms clean. It is not full of atmosphere but is a good place to explore the souk and old muscat

We came here from Dubai at 2010, there was a renovation before, even was not finished yet. First they did not find our reservation, then the room was quite ok, but the bathroom was extrem dirty. On the second night somebody crashed my car in the carpark, offcourse the security did not see anything. The AC was extremly loud in... More

All very good - staff very friendly, the rooms very nice. You get more than you pay, thats for sure!. Breakfast not the biggest, but good. Would definitely recommend it. Ps: To the hotel: if you read this, please please do change the orange juice for breakfast, its like orange water with a lot lot of sugar, thanks.

Good value, basic hotel including breakfast. Within short taxi ride of the Muttrah Souk/Corniche (pay 300 baisa each for shared taxi or OR 1.5 private) . Very friendly and honest staff. Really impressed with the service. Had an issue with the shower tray leaking water onto the bathroom floor. Notified reception at 11:30pm and someone came to carry out a... More
