I stayed here because a friend visiting with me wanted a "more authentic Beirut experience" than a hotel. I wasn't overly impressed. This is 1930's period apartment building of which one of the apartments has been converted into a guesthouse. The bathrooms feel a little worn and unclean. Difficult to review. Located in a hip area of Beirut in a quaint, pretty old building Hayete is a relatively peaceful place to stay compared with downtown and Hamra hotels. The guesthouse is situated above two restaurants in a very nice building. The four rooms are situated around a common sittingroom. The 2nd B of B+B is often very simple indeed - coffee/tea, fruit, starchy component. My friend and I stayed at Hayete for 10 nights this summer. We loved touring beautiful Lebanon during the day and coming back to relaxing Hayete in the late afternoon/evening. This is a guesthouse/B&B in a period building, not a bland highrise 4* hotel. As such, it has tonnes of character, every room is different, but if you need double glazing, concierge service, hairdryers and sterile surroundings this place isn't for you.
