I stayed in this hotel twice, once in August & another in December; each time for 3 nights. I never witnessed any sort of prostitution happening, yes there are loud discos on the ground floor but it would never effected my sleep since I was staying on the 2nd floor. The gym was completely damaged so in case you were... More

Good Location, in the down town, so moving around is easy, the Hotel has been renovated! So the rooms are good value for money, lot of city attractions in the vicinity. Take a walk to the Gate of Bahrain (as called Bab Al Bahrain) old souq, Gold souq etc.

Except for location, and clean room, other features are suspect. Old hotel with rooms and corridors big. Only two floors gives you the message of ancient times. Looks and feels shady. Breakfast is same, frugal but good. More known for the clubs on site, etc. Can give a miss.

I do not know how this hotel is allowed to be in business! It is full of prositutes, bars and clubs! I had a Chinese prostitute knock on my door at 6.00am touting for business! How the hell is that allowed to happen??? Several Chines girls were walking up and down the corridor asking men if they wanted massages! I... More

Disgusting hotel with disgusting people. We were the only family there and as a girl I felt so so uncomfortable from all the prostitution happening. This place is definitely a bar and not a hotel. I was approached by drunk men multiple times and I could not sleep at night AT ALL FROM THE MUSIC... IT WAS SOOSOO LOUD... even if... More

I stay in this hotel during Ramadan, so most of the amenities were closed down, swimming pool and clubs. The hotel is clean, personnel is nice, but is very old, rooms are big but basic, no mats on floor. AC is noisy and will freeze you, even with 40ºC outside, problem being wether is stopped or you will feel cool.... More

I spent three nights in the Gulf Gate and would generally recommend it - it was quiet, the staff were attentive and helpful and it is in a good location. I think I would book in there again - I travelled solo, however - it might be different as a couple.
