This is a great budget option in Madaba - the rooms are reasonably priced, and in a good location. We chose this hotel for its great recommendation for well thought out and reasonably priced tours to other locations around Madaba - these didn't disappoint - we went to Mount Nebo, the Dead Sea and the hot springs for the day... I was travelling as a woman alone and would like to recommend this hotel to all the other women out there :-). The hotel is a really nice place. Part of the staff are women, so it's a good place to feel comfortable. Apart from that, the owner is really friendly and always ready to provide information. Even if you,... More

As good lonely followers we have choosen this hotel as the first option to stay en Madaba. The room was sufficient and the common areas were simple, but the owner was marvelous. He helped us with everything, he recommend us places to eat as locals, also nice places to smoke water pipe and he also helped us with the hotel... More

We were very happy to stay at this hotel. That's maybe not the most luxurious hotel of the world, but it offers everything that you need and the most important in my opinion: that's a place where we felt like at home thanks to the very nice, interesting, helpful and funny owner with whom we loved to talk about Jordan,... We were very pleased with our stay at the Black Iris. We knew going in that the hotel was in the budget category and so we were not expecting luxury. The room was very clean and provided everything that we needed. The proprietor was EXTREMELY attentive and helpful. He provided us a lot of great advice as to what to... More

Having read other reviews, there's little I can do but endorse them! Great value for money and lovely breakfast. But what makes this place stand out is the wonderful man who runs it; nothing is too much trouble for him, and he goes out of his way to be helpful. Forget the more expensive places, this is what Jordan is... More

we give "excellent" rate because is a low budget hotel (very good price) lead by a professional hotel manager. Odeh knows his job. The rooms are a bit old fashion but cosy and clean. We ended up spending 4 nights here because Madaba is undoubitebly a strategic place to settle while you go around visiting half of Jordan (even following... More

We stayed an extra night here rather than going back to Amman before catching our flight because it was such good value, and close to the airport - I hadn't realised Madaba is actually more convenient for the airport than the capital. The owner was lovely and his english was excellent which was very helpful in terms of getting directions... More

We stayed at the Black Iris for our last two nights in Jordan following a 9 day trip. It was probably more of a basic hotel then we would usually stay in and there is no doubt that the rooms could do with a perk up, the bathrooms are quite small and basic and the rooms themselves are dark and... Very friendly staff, one of the cheapest and yet very good value for money. Rooms are large enough with very clean towels and clean shower, nothing to reproach in any way. The receptionist was very helpful and I actually planned my whole trip in Jordan with his input. Other guests were returning from wadi rum following his advice and had... More
