My lady and I were told about Beit Shmuel by a friend to whom we now owe a debt -- or a good dinner. We had a hostel room that would accommodate, I think, six. No frills. Very comfortable -- ours had a postcard view of the old city. No pool -- who needs it? No spa -- So what?... More

Essentially a youth hostel, noisy and a bit grimy. Good breakfast, very well located. A group of teens may love this but was not for our family. We tried to move elsewhere on the last night but they refused to refund money. They did give us better hotel styled room that was much cleaner but still very very noisy as... More

Spent a weekend with extanded family. The hotel's location is great, rooms are very nice and big and thats it. This is acctualy an activity center more Than hotel, hence the staff is not orgenized to give service to guests (they dont clean the rooms, wont bring you an extrra blanket...). Also, Food is quite poor. So dont come hear... More

We have just returned from spending a weekend in Jerusalem with my children and grandchildren staying at this place. The rooms were clean and bright. The breakfasts were generous and the staff were very helpful. We had adjacent rooms on floor 3 and there was a large communal space with a large table, dining chairs and sofas. The children used... I've spent just one night at the guest house and 7 nights at the youth hostel in the same building - the difference is dramatic! Room was newly renovated, super clean bathroom with marble tiling, comfortable beds, great side view of the city (also not too much sun, but just enough), privacy guaranteed as it was a corner room. Other... More

This is a hotel overlooking Old City in Jerusalem. Rooms are very comfortable and clean, and most sights are within walking distance....Sleeping quality on their beds was excellent for me after three weeks of hectic time in southern Israel..Food was very good, and each floor has a lobby where you can serve yourself a sip of coffee or tea...do emails...wireless... The very best location in Jerusalem and a real bargain! The hotel rooms (not the hostel rooms) are designed by the same guy as the Citadel Hotel next door and the views of the Old City are better than at the King David. An Israeli breakfast is included. While there is no bar or room service, you can easily walk... More

The Beit Shmuel centre seems to have a mixture of arts areas, hostel, and hotel. The hotel room we had - overlooking a building site and further the old city, was perfectly good. The building itself is actually quite nice, with an internal open courtyard. The location is literally 200m from the old city, so if that matters to you,... More

We have stayed at Beit Shmuel before, and might very well do so again, but only because Jerusalem hotels are very expensive and this one, in a terrific location (within easy walking distance of the Old City), is within our budget. This time we stayed in a "renovated hostel room", which cost us over $200 per night for a family... More
