Lovely courtyard, very peaceful right in centre of Old Jerusalem.Lovely for drinks and coffee or lunch.Did not stay here but enjoyed our refuge after sightseeing .Refreshing and relaxing old building.Quite hard to find but it is just on corner of Via Dolorosa and well worth seeking out.Sitting in courtyard listening to hustle and bustle outside is rather surreal!

Having now stayed at the Austrian Hospice twice I can happily say there is nowhere in Jerusalem I would rather be based. From a slightly unpromising start at street level, the hospice really does feel like an Oasis amidst the craziness of Jerusalem once you enter the street door (the doorstep is often used as a bench by local kids),... Despite the great location, I'd not recommend this place after the shoddy attitude of the reception clerk on my arrival after traveling for a day to get there. The check in is at 2 and my flight got me to Jerusalem by 7am - I was told I could leave my bags in an unlocked storeroom and made to sign... More

I would thoroughly recommend the Austrian Hospice for anyone visiting Jerusalem who wants to be in the heart of things. Pros: - Great location in the heart of the Old City - Lovely old building - Friendly cafe - Beautiful garden - real oasis - Simple rooms with everything you need Cons: - Can be noisy - opposite a mosque... This is a not to be missed place in the the Moslem Quarter of the Old City. To gain access to the Hospice you have to press the buzzer at the side of a dilapidated looking front door. Looks are deceiving though. Once inside you will find a quiet garden, a beautiful classical building, a restaurant serving tasty Viennese specialties,... More

I loved this place. It is a quiet, spotless old style building with generous sized communal areas and high ceilings inside the Jerusalem city walls, near Damascus Gate. The staff is nice, efficient and can give advice on any local places to visit, transport etc. I slept in a dorm (slightly pricey at 26E per night) which had everything and... More

The Hospice looms high over the main street. Good food and beer a reasonably prices be eaten on a terrace, with views over the main sites, or on pedestals two floors above the main gate, with good but safe view of the main street. Our favorite place to eat in Jerusalem.

Sitting in the courtyard with the delicious iced coffee and Apfelstrudel was a nice change from the buzzling outside. Prices are quite ok, you can also pay in Euro. The small garden is very relaxing and relatively calm, although the Imam was shouting his prayers nearby; very nice mixture! Staff in the "Kaffeehaus" was friendly. The view down into the... More

You can buy a beverage and cool off in the front in the shade. What you really need to do is go inside and wind all the way to the top so you can go outside and see the views of the city. Especially impressive during the Muslim call to Prayer eerily echoing from a nearby tower

We visited this place because it is famous for the best apple strudel, but sorry to disappoint you, I was there today, had an apple strudel, but it was mostly crust and hint of apple taste . Apart from the view, and indeed the clean toilets that we appreciated, forget the apple strudel ! Your better off enjoying the local... More
