Hotel is of the highet quality with great and very friendly service; Incredible historic hotel worth exploring, I stayed in a Pasha's Room where the wives would stay, with 20 fit. painted ceilings. I had a guide through the hotel whom I believe is Arab although I never asked - and a very different view of Jerusalem than friends of... more

This hotel is considered one of the "Leading Hotels in the World," but I can't see why. The reception and outside areas of the hotel were nice, however the room itself was a big disappointment. I consider myself a pretty laid back guy, however when I saw my room, felt the need to write a review. Room was outdated, plaster... more

I stayed at the american colony for two nights with a friend. we were upgraded to a very nice, large and comfortable room and we had an amazing time. the stuff was more than welcoming, the food was great, the ambience charming. the most interesting people are passing by the american colony, and if you have a drink in the... more

Was a bit apprehensive after reading previous reviews but have to say that I think they were wrong. Is it the perfect hotel, well no- but would I stay there again should I go to Jerusalem- definately. Unlike a lot of the other well-known hotels in Jerusalem, eg King David this hotel has a lot of personality and charm. Tend... more

We stayed at the American colony the last two days of our visit to Israel. I stayed here once before, in 2002, and have waited to be able to return since. We didnt have a reservation, but decided to stop by, to see if we were lucky enough, to get a room anyway. The hotel was pretty full. It seems... more

The American Colony Hotel makes considerable use of its history as a promotional and marketing tool. Do not be fooled. This is a very average hotel living on past glories but with the pretentions of a top hotel with of course the prices to match. The room I had was quite shabby and although cleaned daily the cleaning was not... more

The hotel is situated on the 'seam' and therefor we had sometimes problems to find a taxi driver who would drive us there at night. It's a 10-15 min. walk from Damascus Gate. We had a room in the 'new' part. It was spacious, clean and interestingly furnished. Certainly not luxurious. This is true for the entire hotel. The breakfast... more

The American Colony is a nice hotel in the middle of what can be a chaotic city. I will leave the opinions of the neighborhood, etc., to others on this board but I will offer a few practical items to keep in mind. The room: The door locks are rather unusual as you have to use your room key to... more

The American Colony Hotel is a beautiful place to stay in when in Jerusalem and we had been planning to do so, with our friends, for a long time. Following a deal ad in the newspaper, we booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and our reservation was confirmed for 2 Pasha Suites. After a visit at the Museum of Islam, which... more

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Jordan and Israel including a four night stay at the American Colony hotel. I decided to stay there based on other traveler reviews on Tripadvisor. The hotel is very well known in the area, and it is quite beautiful. However, as a Jewish American, it is somewhat disconcerting to be... more
