The citadel youth hostel is a great neat place to stay if you want to visit Jerusalem cheap. thing is they should actually pay a little more attention to the bath rooms and the kitchen. its a mess. sorry folks that the truth. the sleeping facilities are great and it realy looks nice and cosy. but the showers and toilets... The hostel is a little bit old, but this is normal for the building is an ancient one (it is located within the old town) and surely the money needed to upgrade it is unaffordable for a hostel. Otherwise the Hostel is pretty good. The only problem is about the room. In my case I can only speaks about room... More

What a wonderful place! My friend and I were there for 2 nights. She booked this hostel against my better judgment, as I was very apprehensive about staying in a hostel. I have never stayed in a hostel before but this place has set the bar so high. We slept on the rooftop for 2 nights. I have never seen... More

First of all, the best thing about this hostel is location. Just at the border between arab and armenian quarter, not far from Jaffa gate, max. 5 minutes walking from Wailing wall, Temple mount and church of holy sepulchre. The good thing is the very nice but simple kitchen, rooftop view and possibility to meet other (young) people, friendly staff... More

decent hostel, very centrally located, helpful staff, but hot rooms in summer. Sleeping on the roof might be nice. Located near Jaffa gate, and on walking distance from the old city and downtown Jerusalem.

Hands down the best hostel I have ever visited. The building itself was very old but maintained immaculately, it felt as if you were staying in a citadel that the Crusaders themselves would have used. The rooftop was even better. I loved spending countless days and nights staring into the fantastic central view of the old city. The church bells... More

We stayed in a private room so the number of people didn't bother us too much, but this hostel is absolutely jam packed - to the point they had about 20-25 people sleeping all over the roof and others just sleeping in hallways and alcoves as you walk around the hotel. You couldn't go up on to the roof in... More

Great location, near Jaffa Gate (you don't want to be too far away from the gate because you have to walk your luggage through this pedestrian only city), but still a few minutes from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Jewish Quarter. Rooftop has an amazing view of the Old City, this makes it worth it staying here. We... More

Nice hostel with a great vibe within it. The staff are lovely and Jamil is really funny. The volunteers are great to talk and are happy to help. Rooms are like small caves, with no AC. The kitchen is lacking utensils and the real cooking facilities. The location is awesome to access most of the old city. Beautiful view from... More
