Spent 3 nights there with a couple of friends. After the first night we seriously contemplated looking for another hostel, the bathrooms are tiny and uncomfortable, but then it grew on us. They clean the bathroom regularly, at least they did while we were there. Our first night we didn't get clean sheets though, until we moved over to the... More

I went to Israel last march and I didn't really make any hotel reservations so all my preferred hotels/hostels were already full when I got there. I looked all over the old city for cheaper place to stay and I found New Swedish Hotel. It is located right smack of the alley going in from the Jaffa gate. It is... More

First, I have no clue why this hostel is called new swedish hostel. There is absolutely nothing Swedish about it. It's really well located and cheap, but I absolutely did not feel comfortable staying there. The showers are way to small, the water doesn't come with any pressure and you can't properly lock the doors. We had a two-bed room... More

I spent in New Swedish hostel 4 nights. I was with two friends and we took a triple room. It was small (we could pay extra for a bigger one) and rather old but we didn't excpect nothing more (for such a good price!). However, it wasn't grossly dirty and I didn't see any bugs. Toilets and showers were clean... More

Very modest, but incredibly cheap hostel in the heart of Jerusalem´s Old city. Rooms are not very spacious, not extremely beautiful, but definitely not dirty (we slept in shared room). Ventilators and stone walls take care of quite a pleasant temperature. Showers and WC´s are not so comfortable, because they are too small. Kitchen is solidly equipped, especially interesting is... This hotel is ridiculously cheap, so you get what you pay for. I stayed in a mixed, 15 bed room, and it was fine. The bells sound very early in the morning and you might risk having a snorer, but it is extremely cheap, so it evens out. I enjoyed it and recommend it. If you don't enjoy shared bathrooms,... More

Our family stayed in 5 bed dorm room. Given the price, I was happy with it. Yes it's cramped, but I did not find it dirty. It was sufficient and the location was great. Walk out the door and you're right there in the old city just minutes from Jaffa Gate. Just around the corner we found a great place... More

This cramped hostel is one of the worst places I've ever stayed in. You have to be a gymnast to use the toilets and the showers because the cubicles are so small. I went in 2011 and my room was very cold at night. It wasn't especially clean either, or in very good decorative order. The only reason I've given... More

Not bad for the price. My girlfriend and I chose this place because it had a cheap private room. Well, seems I had stayed there before. The bed was comfortable and everything was sufficient. I didn't think the staff was rude, just a little kooky but helpful. No big deal, in a city like Jerusalem, I typically don't hang out... More

I stayed in the New Swedish Hostel in August as a couple. The facilities are not great. I slept in the dorm room and was fairly sure that the bed linen/anything anywhere had not been washed in a while. Cleanliness is obviously not a priority. Kitchen facilities are very limited and the showers are cramped. However, on the positive side... More
