Two of my friends and I had a fantastic experience at the Saint John Hotel in Selcuk, Ephesus- Turkey on our Easter break from university. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were ever so kind and took amazing care of us. We even met other students on their Easter break and hung out with them at restaurants in the... More

It is probably a little further from the train station than most hotels in town but still very walkable (but folks with large suitcases probably shall call a cab). Room and furniture look new. Bathroom is clean but unfortunately poorly designed. The shower stand lacks a place to put shampoo and gel, which makes it a bit inconvenient while taking... More

Amazing little gem of a hotel! Great staff, great breakfast, absolutely beautiful hotel. The neighborhood is a bit rough, the hotel really doesn't fit, but once inside you forget all about it. Can't say enough nice things about the hotel and staff. Apparently the building used to house a prison which makes the whole place just a little bit cooler.

Four of us stayed at this boutique hotel when we visited the ruins at Ephesus, about 15 minutes away by car. Hotel St. John is tucked away behind the Basilica. The owner is on the property and all the staff speak English. Small, swiming pool in the central court yard, 26 nicely appointed rooms in total. The breakfast included in... More

We may well have been in the hotel at the same time as the previous reviewer. We stayed two nights and enjoyed our experience. Yes, the neighborhood is a bit dicey, but we could walk into the nice town center in 10 minutes. Our room was pleasant and roomy enough--certainly adequate and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Staff was nice. This... More

Whoever took the online photos for this hotel's website did a great job - of deception! While the rooms are well appointed many are so small as to be ridiculous, considering the way they are billed. Bathroom so tiny you can't open the door and brush your hair. Just enough room to edge around the bed and nowhere to open... More

Selçuk is not a particularly nice town, and its principal advantage is its proximity to some major archaeological sites (notably Ephesus and Priene). Likewise, the street on which this hotel is situated isn't what you'd call scenic. But step through the doors and you leave all that behind. The staff are very friendly, the pool area is lovely and a... More

We have stayed in a lot of hotels and I can honestly say that this was the friendliest. The owner along with all of staff were extremely friendly, very helpful and always on hand. We had several evening meals, which were delicious, the surrounding area made you feel you were in Turkey. Easy to get about, felt very safe, no... More

Charming hotel, very clean, with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is located in a back street at the bottom of the citadel. Delightful courtyard with a small swimming pool. A quiet and lovely spot to come back to at the end of the day after our visit of Ephesus.

The pictures on the website, appear as if this were the most perfect boutique hotel...Once you get there, you will be surprised. My husband and I were very disappointed. The room was marginal, the neighborhood was loud and there were no views. We actually left and checked into another hotel...We didn't stick around to review the food or the staff...However,... More
