One of the most awful hotel I ever stay. Bad things: 1- Rooms are small, dirty, doesn't have mini bar, safe box, TV wont work. 2- air condition without control,so the room is always very hot or very cold. we ask to change the room and with a lot of argument we got a worst room. 3- there is no... A wonderful boutique hotel in the old city. Close to Topkapi Palace and Aya Sophia and right next to the city walls. Great staff, loveky breakfast - best to sit outside on the verandah with views over the Sea of Marmara.

We recently spent 4 wonderful nights at the Valide Sultan Konagi Hotel in the Sultanahmet( old city) section of Istanbul. Great location, about 5 minutes from Topkapi Palace and the Haghai Sophia. Ten minutes from the Blue Mosque. 17 beautifully appointed rooms. A bit on the small side, but great bathrooms and outstanding views. Breakfast at rooftop restaurant with summer... More

We had 3 days in Sultanahmet and then were off to Capadoccia for 4 nights before returning for Istanbul for our final 3 nights...BUT we didn't figure that getting a triple room would be a problem on Easter Weekend for a country that doesn't celebrate Easter. Wrong! Of course triples are harder to find, and Valide had 80 Euro triples... More

Staying in Sisli

Neighborhood Profile
Sisli
For much of Istanbul’s history, Sisli and the area just north of Taksim Square were open countryside used mostly as hunting grounds. These days, Sisli and its chic streets are considered the very heart of contemporary Istanbuli life, where an epicenter of fashion and a thriving business district meet to create an expressly “downtown” feel. Though largely a residential neighborhood, luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and upscale shops abound with many of them situated inside or nearby Cevahir Istanbul, the biggest shopping mall in Europe and second biggest urban shopping mall in the world. Shopaholics and fashionistas travel from near and far to browse the area's mix of major global brand items and creations by popular Turkish designers.
