Dennis and his staff are fantastic - warm, welcoming, accommodating and extremely helpful. Don't speak Turkish, no problem. Dennis is a great source of local information for sights, shopping and eateries. Not once were we disappointing with any of Dennis's recommendations. Located in the "old town" within walking distance of the grand bazaar, the Hippodrome, Mosques and good food. It's a great... More

We are a family of 4 and were only staying in Istanbul for 3 days so we wanted to be close to the main sites. This location was perfect, we were able to walk to the blue mosque, haggia sofia, grand bazaar. So many restaurants and shops on the street and Dennis who works in the office suggested some delicious... More

The hotel is in a walking distance from major sites of interest, there's plenty of shops and restaurants in the neigborhood, our suite was very well equipped with confortable beds, clean, silent, fast wifi included. The hotel staff welcomed us with excellente service, like airport transfer and baggage carried to room. Mr. Deniz, the hotel manager, gave us good tips... More

The staff were invariably friendly, pro-active, and immensely helpful at pointing out the high value attractions and local restaurants and bakeries, and steering us away from the tourist traps. For example they recommended and booked an authentic Turkish bath for us for literally 1/3 the price of the glossy brochure rate. And one day we accompanied the owner to the... More

We loved this hotel. The accommodations were great, but the best experience was from hanging out with the host Deniz. We still keep in touch, and I call him younger brother. He read me Turkish coffee and said that I will get pregnant within a year, which I did. Deniz showed us local places and recommended nice restaurants and places... More

This is a hard hotel to rate because there were a number of good and bad things about it. Here's a list for easier reading: PROS - The suites (which are located about 2 minutes walk from the actual Sultanahmet Suites main office & lobby) are spacious, functional, and pretty comfortable. There's a mini-mart 10 steps away from the suites... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
