Book an accommodation for 1 night stay in Istanbul (transiting purpose) with friends for early August 2015. However, the hotel decided to cancel our reservation after 2 days despite it being confirmed when booked directly from its official website. Reason given was that we are only staying for 1 night and therefore it's "blocking" the reservations for end of July... More

Master and the staff are very friendly and kindly. Especially, master informed me good information including good restaurant and warning spot/men near the hotel. there are small cafe on the ground floor and terrace upstairs. You can relax there. I stayed just only one day for transit. I strongly recommend to stay more days.

I absolutely love the Med Cezir Hotel. I stayed here for the first time two years ago and returned again this past month. The people are extremely welcoming, friendly, and kind. They truly display Turkish hospitality. The breakfast is delicious and the beds are very comfortable. I will return again!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July -- a perfect location near all the major sights, and the included breakfast was fresh and delicious (bread, olives, cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes, coffee, etc.)! The room was nice and clean, shower was a little small but the bathroom was clean as well. One downside is the noise level... More

Great location very close to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the old Palace. Breakfast is OK but no surprise. The family suite is private and enough space for four of us. It has two rooms, a private bath, a living room and a balcony. The owner's wife is so nice that she called Vodafone twice for us when we had... More

We showed up and they upgraded us from a bunk bed room to a 2 single bedroom. The small place is located in a great location. So close to the Hagia Sophia, you can actually see it from their terrace. Their breakfast is standard compared to the other hostels. the service was great from beginning to end. The owner even... More

I'm, a professional travel writer/photographer and I travel the world - a lot. This past month I pent 9 nights at this unassuming hotel, steps from Istanbul's Sultanahmet Square ( the dazzling Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia mosque). On a small quiet street. across from the luxe Four Seasons Hotel, the unassuming Med Czir is a family-run operatiobn and if... More

We stayed in this hotel for a bit over a week when we first came to Istanbul, and I'd definitely stay there again. It's located just off Sultanahmet Square, so is almost right beside the Hagia Sophia, and less than a minute's walk to Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, and the tram, which you can use to get around Istanbul... Great location- we were within walking distance of all the major attractions in the Old City. Staff was friendly. We enjoyed the coffee shop and the breakfast spread very much. Room was a little tight, but we didn't spend much time in there anyway. Bathroom was a little dingy, but mostly clean and acceptable; the shower head had no where... More

Just meters from Hagia Sofia, Topaki palace. The staff is really nice , the room is spacious, but for us it seemed that they neglected the hotel little bit, the bathroom was not so clean it has some fungus, the breakfast area can be better.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
