This really is a compact and homely little hotel. If you are fussy about facilities then don't bother. It's a comfortable place within easy reach of the main sights yet set in a quiet, local neighbourhood. Most of all "Masala" and "Feta" who seem to do everything are extremely helpful and welcoming. I would stay here again without hesitation just... more

This was my first visit to Istanbul and I was single female traveller. I was given kind help for arranging sight seeing, transfer to bus station, and freiendly chat as if I was staying at freiend's house. The location was very good and easy access to the historical area. It was pleasant and easygoing, I felt safe and comfortable during the... more

The hotel is small, but well located in the heart of the old city. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment during our stay and things were rather chaotic. No room at the inn for the first night so we were relocated, which was rather annoying, but given the best room in the house (top floor, huge balcony, sea view) and a... more

I spent one week in Istanbul with a friend and we both loved our stay at Umay Hotel. The rooms are nice, the hotel is located very near to Topkapi, Hagia Sophia and also in walking distance to the Grand Bazar. The staff tries to make you feel welcome and you will be going to enjoy turkish hospitality. more

We had booked the hotel over the internet and rang to confirm the booking, only to be told that they had forgotten to put on the website that they're fully booked. But the twist is if we're willing to pay 20 Euros more, they can give us a room. Excuse me? You have a room but you're saying you're fully... more

We stayed at the Hoitel Umay because it was part of an extremely reasonable on-line vacation package offered by TUI Euorpe's largest travel agent and its location is near Istanbul's monuments. The Hotel has 13 rooms and on-line it is stated that most of the rooms have a view of the Marmara Sea. We asked repeatedly for one of them... more

What a shame for Turkey and Istanbul to have such a terrible hotel! Rooms where it is really difficult to breathe because of the humidity inside! Very poor breakfast!Choose another one more

This family run hotel is conveniently located at some 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and the Haghia Sophia. So this is the best thing about it. It is far from a "boutique" hotel as the hotel's home page claims. The owner definitely has had an initial idea of how to establish a small inn with a traditional Ottoman... more
