Third stay, third review (my only third TripAdvisor review), still like it ...... The downmarket Agan remains only the second Istanbul hotel I have revisited in almost ten visits to the city (the upmarket Marmara was on expenses but that’s a different story) and remains one of my favourites. What’s the same ? Excellent location, spotless and really good buffet... More

We booked three nights in this lovely hotel and we were upgraded to a suite because our room was not ready. The staff were really nice and the hotel is in an excellent location. The hotel has an outside area where you can relax drinking a cup of their apple tea or smoking Shisha.

Booked this hotel for 4 nights in September 2015 in a Deluxe Suite room (travelling as 2 adults plus one baby). We arrived around 7:30am local, room not available yet so they held our bags while we explored a bit. We were still able to get into our room a bit early. No baby cribs (we knew this in advance... Great location in the central area of Istanbul, from where all the central attractions of Istanbul are easily reachable by foot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was pretty small, but nice and clean and with a very nice view (we were located on the 6th floor). As we didn't spend much time in the room, its... More

This independent hotel was recommended by an ex-student of mine. Very happy with her choice as I was confronted by comfort and friendliness at a great price. It was clean, quiet and safe. The breakfast was fulsome and when I asked for advice about directions, I was answered with patience and interest. Good beer....

My wife and me went for a week holiday in Istanbul and chose Agan Hotel for our stay. We arrived early morning and was very tired. Seeing our condition the guys told us to get our breakfast and in the meantime prepared room for us. We did not expect this at all. The room was good, total value for money.... More

3 of my friends visited Istanbul and wanted to be close to all the sites. Location is excellent, breakfast was good but the walls are very thin. There was some construction going on opposite the hotel so not much sleep was guaranteed early in the morning. The room was very small. Not much room to move around at all. It... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
