Tiny guest house/hotel in the heart of Sultanahmet - great access to everywhere. Beautifully decorated with carpets everywhere. A windy staircase (I had to hold on as I was a bit unsteady) led to a small and cosy bedroom, again with fabulous carpets on the walls. A lovely breakfast is served on the top tiny floor with fabulous views of... More

I am a big sucker for beautiful roof top's and I know when i started planning our trip to Istanbul, I started to look for accommodations with a nice view in old sultanhmet area ( I think this is the best place to stay for first time visitors to Istanbul ) . After going through many hotel reviews, i zeroed... More

We stayed 4 nights at the Terrace Guesthouse. Dogan and Kemal were hospitable and helpful and we felt so well accommodated. The roof top terrace affords amazing views of the city. Dogan and staff were always available for restaurant recommendations, maps of walking routes or other suggestions, and to schedule an airport shuttle. The room was cozy and comfortable. The... More

It is a couple years since my visit, and the hospitality offered by Dogan and Kemal is still top class. Clean and comfortable, this place offers great ambience in the old part of Istanbul. A roof-top breakfast experience is true icing on the cake. Handy to all sites and restaurants this hotel is top value for money. I just love... More

We were referred to the Terrace by a friend who said the owner and manager/receptionist had been very helpful to her as well as other traveling friends in the past. We could have done cheaper, we could have done glitzier, but we went with the idea of kindness, helpfulness and warm greetings. We were not disappointed! Kemal, the receptionist seemed... More

Dogan bey and his team made it possible, that even with a group of multipy sensorial disabled (no wheelies!) people we could visit Istanbul. They found a home there for a week and memories that still accompany them now, over two years ago. Also as privat guests we have been there many times now. And each time it was a... More

My husband and I stayed at the Terrace Guesthouse the late 90s and returned for 5 days in early September this year. Sometimes places are not as good as you remember, however Terrace is every bit as good as we remembered and more! Thank you Dogan, Kemal & Nelly for your wonderful hospitality and assistance, we loved our stay. Spotlessly... More

Several years ago my husband and I spent our honeymoon in Istanbul at the Terrace. This time I returned with my mother and sister and enjoyed sharing this special place with them.. Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
