This is a great hotel if you're looking to walk to great Istanbul tourist spots. The staff was helpful, the room was clean and spacious and and location is great. The staff gave us helpful recommendations about restaurants, walks and tourist locations. We walked to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, a Turkish Bath, restaurants, the Galata Tower, the Cisterns, the... More

Family of five in two rooms, a double and a triple Plenty of space and clean rooms, Staff friendly and well spoken, helpful and polite Buffet breakfast was adequate and filling, Albeit we ate fruit and yogurt a lot as opposed to a hot breakfast. Views of sea, blue mosque and Hagia Sophia. Staff happy to arrange taxi, but use... More

The staff are very helpful, and very easy to get on with! The hotel is in an excellent location, very close to the Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sofia. The restaurant was excellent, with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooftop location of the restaurant is amazing in the evening and early morning. Absolutely loved it there!

We stayed in Istanbul after our cruise for a few nights. We picked this hotel because it was close walking distance to the old city and all the sites. You could easily walk down to where the Blue Mosque and the Ayasofia were. The Grand Bazaar was closed due to Ramadan but that was close as well. We like the... More

The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the service was friendly. The restaurant upstairs actually served a great meal, which was important to us because we were looking for something authentic. The food was good and reasonably priced, and the view was great.

The Sultanhan was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. From the friendly welcome at the front desk to the crisp cleanliness of the room, from tea in the lobby to breakfast on the rooftop terrace, from comfortable bed to refreshing shower, from quiet side street to closeness of major attractions, nothing was missing. Everybody I came in contact... More

This hotel was recommended by our travel agent who had stayed there before. We really enjoyed our stay there, the breakfasts on the terrace at the upstairs restaurant and the courteous and accommodating staff. Also enjoyed the cold beers that we ordered on the upstairs terrace in the late afternoons after a day of sightseeing. Very close walking distance to... More

We traveled here with two children and the hotel was very accommodating. Refreshments as soon as we were seated in lobby for paperwork etc. It is in the urban area on Istanbul along side of what appeared to be a printing/or paint factory. This was never an issue though. It was just down the street from the local Firehouse which... More

The hotel is on a quiet block but just one minutes walk from the main street. The staff were lovely - really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with free wifi and a big bathroom with good shower. I haven't given 5 stars because the breakfast was just average (we didn't have any other... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
