The Sultanhan was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. From the friendly welcome at the front desk to the crisp cleanliness of the room, from tea in the lobby to breakfast on the rooftop terrace, from comfortable bed to refreshing shower, from quiet side street to closeness of major attractions, nothing was missing. Everybody I came in contact... More

This hotel was recommended by our travel agent who had stayed there before. We really enjoyed our stay there, the breakfasts on the terrace at the upstairs restaurant and the courteous and accommodating staff. Also enjoyed the cold beers that we ordered on the upstairs terrace in the late afternoons after a day of sightseeing. Very close walking distance to... More

We were very pleasantly surprised with this elegant hotel our agent had booked for us in Istanbul...very central and within easy walking distance from all the major tourist attractions ie.Blue Mosque,Grand Bazaar,Hagia Sophia as well as the Basilica cistern. Our bedroom was spacious and exceptionally clean and comfortable too with a small table and chairs next to the big window with... We traveled here with two children and the hotel was very accommodating. Refreshments as soon as we were seated in lobby for paperwork etc. It is in the urban area on Istanbul along side of what appeared to be a printing/or paint factory. This was never an issue though. It was just down the street from the local Firehouse which... More

The hotel is on a quiet block but just one minutes walk from the main street. The staff were lovely - really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with free wifi and a big bathroom with good shower. I haven't given 5 stars because the breakfast was just average (we didn't have any other... More

This is a real gem - small enough to be intimate and luxurious. Meals are on the 5th floor terrace with indoow and outdoor tables - great for afternoon relaxation and drinks after a day of sightseeing. Engin is the clear leader of all service there and is a sweet, funny and just wonderful person - all about making your... More

You have a simple choice, either stay in an large "brand" hotel miles away from the key sights, or a small, quiet, we'll run hotel with all the key sights in walking distance. Choose this hotel and you won't go far wrong. Comfy rooms, restaurant with great views (walk up To the roof, one floor up, for even better photos).... More

Located in quiet area, yet only blocks to the main historical sites. Room was pleasant, well kept and roomy. Personnel at the front desk and in restaurant were friendly and helpful; they spoke quite good English and seemed to enjoy interactions with foreigners. Rooftop restaurant was a special plus and the lead waiter there was excellent.

This hotel was recommended by our travel agent and we loved it. Although we arrived very late at night (or early in the morning) we were greeted pleasantly and brought into our cozy room, with wide open windows overlooking an historic building and quiet street. The room we had was smallish but well appointed and comfy. The staff was most... More

Wonderful small hotel within walking distance of major sites. Located on quiet side street. English speaking staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved the rooftop bar and restaurant where breakfast buffet was served each day. Have alre4ady re4commended this hotel to friends going to Istanbul later this year. Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
