This is an old historic Armanian house that has been converted to a hotel. Not many rooms which is nice. Very safe feeling here. I am a woman travelling alone and I never felt unsafe in the hotel or the city. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will do everything in their power to make your stay wonderful.... The location of the hotel is very good, next to the blue mosque! The rooms are pretty small with old fashioned furniture. The restaurant is on the top floor with a nice view over the mosque and river. The breakfast is nice with bread and cheese, cucumber, sausage and tomato along with jam. They also serve nice Turkish tea. I... More

Having lived in Istanbul for five years previously I returned the city after 18 years with my wife. Askin Hotel made us very welcomed. They were very friendly and easy going. The room was descent, although shower head was static and it leaked a bit when worked. The room and bathroom were clean and the cleanliness was maintained daily. The... More

I have just been travelling with friends who stayed at another hotel in Istanbul. Askin looks good on paper but shower leaked, I was rorted at payment time. Worst though was at 10pm after return to room the phone would ring with offers of tea coffee or massage. It was very unnerving. Got booking through Turkish airlines will be telling... More

The location of the hotel is good for the major sights such as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. The shower door in 304 didn't close properly, and the shower didn't drain. Otherwise the room was acceptable, and the breakfast was also adequate.

At no time were we made to feel welcome. The reception member of staff appeared unaware how to read bookings. We waited 15 minutes before it was pointed out to him that code numbers were used not names.. The bathroom was in a poor state of repair with broken and chipped tiles and the vanity light did not work. The shower... More

Askin...translates as "lover" I am told. Or perhaps it was just my accent...but when i got lost in Istanbul trying to find my way to this hotel, asking the locals "Hotel, please? Askin?" I was perplexed to receive 10 telephone numbers with requests to meet later in the bar, but no directions to the hotel! The eleventh person I asked... More

If you are looking to stay for a short period and willing to share with friends then this hotel is good on a tight budget, I shared a room with 2 other male friends during the UK Christmas period for 3 nights which worked out at £15 each per night which we thought was very reasonable. We used to get... More

This hotel is in Sultanahmet and very well situated. You follow the street up and get directly in front of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. It is practically impossible to get lost. The roof, where breakfast is served offers a magnificent view of the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the sea of Marmara. The rooms are comfortable and the... More
