I arrived at some ungodly hour and the poor driver had been waiting for close to 2 hours (immigration took forever). When I arrived at the hotel the desk-manager had my room ready and said I should catch some sleep, the formalities would follow in the morning. I had a room in te basement, there was a small patio and... More

I stayed in this lovely hotel at the beginning june 2015. A friend of mine recommended it for me as he often visits turkey, istanbul, and sleeps at that hotel everytime he does not sleep over at relatives. I really need to thank him for that. First of all, the hotel looks very nice. It is clean, it its tidy... More

Excellent location close to site and transportation. Staff went above and beyond to assist us and gave a good insight regarding culture, history and present situation in Turkey quite enlightening. Hotel located in a cull the sac thus no car noise.I will not add anything regarding praying because you will hear it all over Istanbul, thus have to live with... More

I stayed in hotel for 3 days with my family and had a good stay. Staff friendly especially Fatima (if I am mistaken) who served breakfast in terrace, she is so lovely @ caring. I found room small for family and luggage storage, metallic decoration over the bed looks bad @ scary as if it may fall down. I booked... More

We found this hotel last minute in person after a semi disastrous booking with another. The 2nd floor room was clean and roomy enough for us with the baby, and nice enough too. A/C was difficult to work out, though I'm not sure it was working but it wasn't a problem as it wasn't hugely warm It was a good... More

Late April, we stayed at Hotel Peninsula for 3 nights and had a great time~ This is a sweet little hotel in a extremely excenllent location! As these previous comments said, just 5 minutes walk to the Topkapi Palace, so almost everyday we walked by the Topkapi Palace's tremendous imperial garden and lawn to take a deep breath of Istanbul.... This is a sweet hotel, clean and comfortable, affordable, in a great location, just a few blocks to the main sites in old part of Istanbul, with a hearty breakfast and nice terrace overlooking the Marmara Sea. The best part of my stay here was the helpful and kind support from one of the staff members, Mashallah Sonmez-- he offered... More

Room downstairs had no view but was adequate. Reasonable breakfast. Location in terms of sights and transport very good. Friendly and helpful reception. Great restaurants a few meters away but review them carefully to avoid tourist trap (Tria Elegance was excellent). Good value

We stayed for a couple of nights at the end of our trip around Turkey and felt it was a good budgetary choice. The hotel is located an easy walk to Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and Sultanahmet. Grand Bazaar is a little further but still an easy and interesting walk. I couldn't more highly recommend the area to stay!! Sure... More

The location is great, close to Blue Mosque, and also a great street with restaurants and bars. People was great , specially Masallah, he was so nice and always ready to help, super friendly. Breakfast is delicious, and the terrace has a wonderful view. Make sure you ask for a room at the back of the hotel, since is not... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
