The hotel interior and rooms are on the good side of average. The staff is very helpful but the location is the reason you want to choose the Sumengen. It's a few feet from the Arasta Bazaar. A five minute walk to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. Five minutes to the Ala Turca Cooking school (which I highly recommend).... More

This hotel was great, everything in here was perfect, beginning from the staff that was very friendly and correct, the position it has, the view, the rooms which were very nice and clean, the great food, tea and anything else. I'd like to visit it again, because it made my visit in istambull even more interesting and made me feel... More

This intimate and friendly hotel, a mere stone’s throw from Istanbul’s fabled Blue Mosque, offers priceless customer service and great comfort. Located right in the heart of Istanbul’s historic old city, Sumengen Hotel, is the perfect starting point for exploring this great metropolis. Sights within walking distance are too numerous to mention, and include architectural and historic wonders, beautiful parks,... More

First of all- great location (close to Blue Mosque, Ayasofya, not noisy, many nice, not expensive restaurants). And I`d like to say BIG thanks to administration and all stuff. I forgot my bag and they sent me it to Kiev even for free. Thank U. You made my trip beautiful!

Great location, cozy rooms and plenty of good restaurants and bars around. Would not hesitate to repeat if I go back to Istanbul. Breakfast was the weakest point, although still correct and with amazing views to Bosphorus

We stayed here for a week during a Rick Steves tour. There are a lot of good things to say about this hotel. It's a very short walk to most of the major tourist sites, and one street over is a row of mostly restaurants. The staff could not have been more helpful, and the breakfast buffet was extensive and... More

We stayed here for a week as part of a Rick Steve's tour of Istanbul. The location as has been mentioned by others is in the Sultanahmet District, therefore perfectly located for walking to major sites and taking public transportation. The staff was helpful and willing to provide directions to restaurants in the area and other tourist advice. The treasure... More

We stayed at the Sumengen for 10 days in the beginning of October 2014, seven of those days as part of a Rick Steves' tour. From the first day, it felt like home away from home. Sam, the front desk concierge who seemed to work 24/7, spoke great English and was always cheerful, friendly and very helpful recommending restaurants, shops,... More

Stayed here back in Oct2013 and finally came around to writing this review a year later. I really enjoyed my room on the 5th floor with the beautiful view of the Marmara Sea. The location is perfect, near all the important old town sites. The staff were really helpful, and the morning breakfast was delicious- I still find myself craving... More

Very good, clean, reliable place, just 3 blocks from Sultanahmet area (containing Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, etc. Breakfast included. Wonderful staff, particular kudos to "Sam", at the front desk, for problem-solving and advice about restaurants, etc. Quiet, despite being in a busy area. Many restaurants a block or two away. Shuttle service from both airports available through the... More
