My husband and I stopped at this hotel from 18-21st May 2014 for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. We broke a 3 week holiday in Northern Cyprus to travel to Istanbul for this stay and flew into Sabhia gokcen Airport. This airport is quite a way out of Istanbul centre over an hour to hour half (in busy traffic). We jumped... More

We stayed here off season (February) so the hotel was VERY reasonably priced. The room was spacious with large bathroom, small balcony and table and chairs area. The rooftop breakfast buffet was self service and ample. Worth paying a couple of pounds extra for! All the extras were included; bathrobe, TV, tea/coffee facilities etc. We were really impressed! The hotel... More

We chose the Soliman Hotel for its location in the northern part of the Old City, just to the west of Topkapi Palace. It is a small hotel (20 some rooms) about three short blocks west of the Gulhane tram stop and just a bit south of the Eminonu ferry terminals. The rooms are decorated in Ottomon style: gold and... I am Mustafa from South Africa and I stayed with my family at Hotel Soliman between 3rd May to 9th May 2014. When I was searching for hotels to stay at, I had a choice between Black Tulip, Neorion and Hotel Soliman. My wife and I chose Hotel Soliman because we wanted the feeling of being in an Ottoman style... More

We stayed at this hotel in Istanbul for 2 nights last week. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they assisted us in confirming a boat tour we had planned. The rooms are very nice, they are ornate with a lot of gilding and the bathrooms are modern and clean. The breakfast is also great with a good selection of... More

We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Soliman. Whilst the location is good, close to the wharf and also the Grand Bazaar, we found the amenities of the hotel to be quite poor. Our first problem was the shower taps, the taps were very hard to turn on or off. We managed to turn off the tap but it still trickled... More

we have had the worst stay ever at the soliman hotel 3 rooms in 3 days - first room tiny, broken curtains, door handles, no room to open fridge door, 7 air conditioning units outside window, going all night - see photo. Next room, broken toilet flush and air con unit - repeatedly reported, supposedly repaired but still not working... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
