My first trip to Istanbul with my family .Been there for a week. - The place is originally home converted to hotel - The owners are nice , they are personally involved on day to day operation - Rooms are nicely decorated but toilet fittings were bit rusty, shower was bit of struggle . - Nice healthy breakfast but same... Very nicely decorated rooms. A place to feel like at home due to the very friendly owners. Very delicous breakfast! It is close to the highway, but this doesn't disturb at night. 5- minutes walk to beautiful area of ortakoy, but to the centre (taksim) or to the major sites (blue mosque) you have to take a taxi which can... If you need to be close to the centre of Istanbul's European side but don't want to live the hustle & bustle of the historical centre, this place is ideal. Compared to all the other hotels in the region, it is a very good deal. All the rooms are decorated differently in Ottoman style and they are very spacious and... More

It is a nice hotel just next to Bhosphorus bridge. It has a a beautiful garden. There is the noise of the road but windows are good and it is quite inside the room. I would rate the hotel with 5 star if the waitress didn't leave the breakfast area to have her own breakfast in the kitchen.

Our stay at the Symbola was sadly all too brief, as we had to cut our stay short (not related to the Symbola in any way). The staff were absolutely fantastic, allowing us to check-in early to a delightful room. After a 24 hour journey, this was a sight for sore eyes. The breakfast the following morning was delicious and... More

We arrived there by noon and it was sunny. First barrier, plenty of stairs! Someone rushed to get our suitcase down and we were welcomed pleasantly. The room looked nice, I loved the design. You cannot say its luxury, but looks like a classic/modern room. The view to the garden was cute and within 5 minutes you can reach Ortokoy... More

There is nothing wrong with this place. Their staff are very friendly. You have to walk quite a bit to get there, otherwise you can use bus or taxi. The breakfast is very limited. Internet is fast. And rooms are fairly big.

Initial impressions. Bad: 50 metres from hellishly busy main road, very noisy. Built on a hillside, so more steps than a Himalayan goat trail. No bar. Good: Friendly helpful staff, quaint 'boutique' rooms, nice (albeit VERY terraced) gardens

Lovely Hotel, clean and nicely furnished, great terrace, friendly staff, good breakfast, BUT the hotel is only 100m from the motorway that runs over the bridge to Asia ! Sitting on the (very beatiful) terrace feels like picknicking on a highway.. if you dont mind that definitely worth it.. I had a room with no window which was cool for... More

Staying in Besiktas

Neighborhood Profile
Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighborhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
