We stayed mid November 2014 for 3 nights. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The room was clean and when a problem arose ( bedside lamp failed and I required another pillow) there was an immediate response. There was some noise at night but I took earplugs with me so that was not an issue for me. Breakfast was... More

Beautiful view from the room and very nice people. I stayed in this hotel 7 days and really loved it ! The location is close to everything. I felt sad when i was leaving i took pictures from my beautiful room to remember the good time in this hotel. The breakfast was really good! The reception helped me allot and... More

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in Jan 2014. It could be a good hotel, location, views etc but was let down by extremely poor housekeeping. The room was dirty. Dust on walls, lampshades, and under the bed was dead cockroaches, food etc. Yuk!! Very disappointing!!

The website makes a lot of the sound proof glazing which is required given the traffic on the coast road at the front of the hotel. These are not too bad and you only hear slight humm from road / tram. However they have completely forgotten to soundproof between the rooms which given relatively small size and proximity to other... More

The Hotel is placed in front of the tram way and this is a good point if you are interested to be near Taksim square. It is actually 10 minute walk to Taksim but the problem is that it is not easy to walk for old people because taksim is like 100 m higher than see level which the hotel... More

Views of the Bosphorus from room window is nice. Everything else is a letdown. We booked a luxury suite advertised for 4 persons, but our children had to share a 140 cm wide sofa bed, hard springs, 5 cm thick mattress. Our own bed was wide enough - but at 180 cms far too short! Service consisted of bringing us... More

Enjoyed a 2 night stay at the Marbien ... very convenient tram location right in front of the hotel that can take you to all of the tourist spots. Yet the hotel is located away from the crush of people providing a nice view and easy access for walking along the the Bosphorus. Also close to the Taksim shopping district.... More

Despite enjoying our stay at the Marbien, some points are worth noting. Some rooms, especially those interconnecting, have no windows - at all. They are also very small indeed, although the space has been fairly well utilised. There is no roof terrace, as common in many other hotels, a considerable minus in a place such as Istanbul, with its magnificent... More

Excellent alternative to Sultanahmet, close enough to all the action on the Taksim side of the Golden Horn. TL5 cab ride uphill to Istaklal, with all the food/bar delights of Nevizade Sokak and surroundings very close at hand. Quick route in from airport, around 35 mins (in light traffic). Rooms not huge, but new and balcony faces Bosphorus with Ortakoy... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
