Staff were friendly, helpful and always available. Breakfast was like a feast, lots of fruit, cereals and interesting condiments/jams/cheeses were available along with average coffee and a small range of things from the kitchen like eggs. The hotel is located near the marina, the Museum of Modern Art and is next to a useful tram line which can take you... More

Overall an excellent stay at Sub Karakoy. The hotel is well appointed, modern and clearly well looked after. All of the staff that I interacted with were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are small-ish if you are used to North American hotel rooms, but we thought they provided more than enough space for the two of us. The furniture... More

My husband and I stayed at the SuB Karaköy for 5 nights and we really enjoyed it. The boutique hotel is directly at the heart of the Karaköy district which becomes more and more attractive. The staff is exceptional friendly which made our stay very special. After our first breakfast we got a detailed introduction to Istanbul and its places... More

I wanted a Hotel close to the Port, and with facities for my wife, who is disabled. This unfortunately did not fit the bill, as there is a large step up to get into the Hotel (no good for the mobility scooter) and then the scooter would not fit into the lift. Also there are stairs between each floor, so... More

Dear Dobbo_13, Thank you for your kind review, especially regarding your comments on our property not being suitable for disabled persons. Indeed, we try to state on every website that we are not fitted for the disabled, though every now and then this information seems to slip away. I wish we could have done more for you and your lovely... More

I stayed in 3 hotels in Istanbul, and to be honest the people and the attitude of management at Sub Karakoy made this my personal pick of them all. They are small, so you don't feel like a number. Such lovely people at Sub, they make you feel really special. You can tell that they really care that you have... More

Hi WhereToNext3181, You are definetely not a number to us (even though your nickname here ends with one). What a refreshing review, showing again that indeed it is the people who make a place, namely, the great people who come and visit us! Thank you very much for your time & wit, we enjoyed serving you and hope others will... More

I spent a few days at the SuB Karakoy following a conference in Istanbul and just loved it! The hotel is hip, budget-chic with a very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast and lobby lounge as well as a rooftop cafe. The location was ideal - walking distance to the Museum of Modern Art, Galata Tower and the Old City.... More

I really liked this place... cozy and intimate with a very friendly staff concerned about you having the best of experiences in the city. They are really determined to make sure that you're guided to the best of places and have a fantastic knowledge of the city. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated, small but functional, and well kept. The location... More

We stayed 5 night at Sub Karakoy and were very happy with our stay from the minute we arrived. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and an introduction to the city. During our visit the reception helped us with any questions we had and also helped us make restaurant reservations. The breakfast i wonderfull and the breakfast room... More

Karakoy is the best quarter to stay during an Istabul-trip. All the important sights are within walking distance. If tired or a bit lazy - only a few steps away - you can catch the tramway to tünnel, old-istanbul, the ferries, the airport,... This is a fresh and hip reinventing iteself area with lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, galleries and... More

Staying in Karakoy

Neighborhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
