The suite I stayed in was in a separate building from the main building (where the lobby and breakfast were), which was a little weird. And the street noise got a little loud, which could be annoying for a lighter sleeper. Other than that, though, I had a nice stay at this hotel. The room was large, clean, and well-appointed.... The staff of the Tashkonak Hotel made our first trip to Istanbul easy and enjoyable. If you book, add the Airport shuttle. Having transportation arranged made our arrival day easy. We got into our room, hit the ground running, and walked just blocks away to the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, and the pedestrian area that connects them. This hotel... More

Special mention of hotel staff. They are very friendly and always ready to help. Good variety of fruits, vegetables in breakfast. Location is near to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and other major attraction of old town Sultanahmet town. Overall a good tourist hotel at reasonable price considering its location. Must visit again with family.

This was a nice surprise for us - a family of 5! We were given a spacious family suite on the third floor with a beautiful sea view! Very friendly and courteous staff! We had to postpone our visit for three days due to an emergency and the staff gave us no trouble at all (this was a prepaid booking).... More

Great staff: extremely helpful, lots of tips, very gracious and patient. Wonderful breakfast: wide variety of sweet and savory. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Excellent location: close to Sulthanamet/Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Basilica Cistern but quiet. Other positives: We loved the tea service on the rooftop every day. And we were especially thankful for the shuttle service to and... More

Smallest room I have stayed in since London. Could barely walk around the bed. Comfortable bed. Adequate bathroom. No amenities at all. Adequate Turkish breakfast. Friendly front desk staff. Easy walk to the usual sites.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. They even provided a take-out breakfast and coffee at 3AM for our airport shuttle ride! Great breakfast in a pleasant sunny dining room. Gorgeous view from the rooftop deck. Room was comfortable and clean. Very convenient central location.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
