In a very pitoresque setting, very close to the blue mosque and to the rest of the sights of Sultanahmet, we thought (my wife & myself) we had found a most delightful staff and a great (yet small) hotel. Right at our arrival we were offered turkish coffee, as well as tea, and great delights to go with it :)... More

Fabulous location, very clean, extremely helpful staff, especially the manager. There was an issue with our booking as the tour operator hadnt advised them we had booked. We were offered a complimentary drink and had the situation explained to us. We were put in a room on the lowest floor for one night then moved up to the 4th floor. Both... More

Stayed on the sixth floor, which is only two floors up from the reception. There is a lift. Rooms are small, but they have lots of amenities....mini bar, safe, tv, slippers, robes, kettle. We stayed in December and the rate was about $32 for a very small room with a water view, though we could see part of the blue... More

Affordable place to stay in the heart of Sultanahmet. You can walk everywhere to all attractions, have a lunch, come back take a nap, and go walking again in the evening. Tons of restaurants nearby. We walked all the way to Galata, crossing the bridge, with kids. Not that far. An hour walk. Good breakfast, nice seating in the backyard... More

The staff at Hostel Historia were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable, probably a bit small but that doesn't really matter; a nice tasty breakfast was included in the price. It was within easy walking distance to Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque, and was surrounded by good cafes and restaurants.

Historia Hotel is unique, an undiscovered gem in Istambul. We traveled there as a family (five of us) and reserved two rooms (one for two and one for three) and were very surprised by the quality, size, cleanliness of each room, and all the amenities available, comparable to a 5-Star hotel. Immediately, upon our check-in, we were offered tea, coffee... More

We were two girls traveling together so safety and location were our main concern - the staff was very helpful and the area full of attractions, restaurants, and great public transportation. Perhaps a little too touristic area (souvenir shops may have items 6x the price of what you find in the Spice market). Hotel is a good value for money... More

Really enjoyed our stay. The location, price and room-with-a-view were unbeatable. Many thanks to the great front desk staff members Herun and Onur, and breakfast staff Cetun and Chef John for being so courteous and helpful.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
