I stayed here with a friend for one night so we could visit Sultanahmet sights. While the check in desk is in one building, the Hotel has numerous buildings on the street. We stayed about a block from the check in desk building. It was a nice, clean, good size room with excellent AC. Yes, the lobby had someone smoking... More

We stayed at the Hippodrome Hotel the end of June. We were heading home from our trip to Greece. The staff that greeted us was friendly and helpful. When we got to the room it had a mildew smell and just didn't look clean. There was black mold/mildew in the grout and caulking in the bathroom. The A/C had a... More

It was a basic hotel, clean and with friendly staff. With two children it was ideal to have a connecting room. A small fridge was very handy. There was also tea/coffee making facilities. So all in all it served its purpose. Wifi worked fine. In the afternoons they served tea/coffee and biscuits in the small lobby area. Breakfast was across... More

This hotel is a great fit for purpose option. The location is perfect, 5 minutes from Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast (at the hotel across the street) is really complete and the terrace has an awesome view of the surroundings, perfect to start the day with energy. The room is just... More

I truly loved staying at the Hippodrome Hotel. The hotel is a short walking diatance to the main attractions: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the Topkapi Palace. It's surrounded by many cute little shops and restaurants, but is a quiet and cozy area. Each morning we have breakfast buffet on a rooftop terrace restaurant next door. However, what makes the... We were in Istanbul in December just before Christmas time. It was a few rainy days and even snow but nevertheless it was very pleasant and enjoying trip. Hotel is located in five minutes by walk from Blue mosque and Hagia Sophia museum. Breakfast was on the roof terrace of the hotel nearby with fantastic view on the Marmara Sea... More

This hotel is in a terrific location and the staff are very nice. However, make sure you do not stay in a ground level room - dark and cramped (like have trouble getting around the bed cramped). Also - very hard to find English channels on TV...which does matter to someone who travels a lot for work and may want... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
