Small hotel up cobbled lane in heart of Istanbul. Situated just off a row of very good restaurants. Breakfast served on terrace with stunning views of both mosques. Helpful staff on reception. Basic rooms with comfortable beds and air conditioning. Apple teas are recommended.

We stayed here twice during our stay in Turkey - 5 nights, then 8 nights. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. When we arrived after a long overnight flight, we were given our room straightaway and invited to have breakfast on the roof. The breakfast staff, Derya (chef) and Sezgin (waiter) are wonderful - always welcoming. The breakfast... More

Loved this hotel due to its location in Sultanahmet, close to Blue mosque - though difficult to find at first instance as it is not clearly visible from outside and its entry is little at back side. The best it to reach either by taxi or get off at Sultanahmet tram-line and ask anyone, since it is just 2 min... More

I wish I had begun my visit to Istanbul with a hamam and massage by Zeki, at the Ambassador Hotel, so I could visit him multiple times. The small hamam is clean, private and very comfortable. You have the whole place to yourself. If you are looking for a hamam with historic architecture and compulsory treatment this is not the... More

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your massage review. Yes, we are so lucky to have Zeki working with us as almost all guests who visit him are very pleased. We are waiting for your next spa and maybe hotel visit. Meanwhile take care yourself (and we hope that your shoulder muscle is better now). With sunny Istanbul greetings,... More

Location of this hotel is very good, central and nearby of several atractions in the old city. But the rooms are too small, and I wondering if the hotel owner think that we travel without bags. It was not space inside the rooms to acomodate our bags. The breakfast on the roof was wonderful with a nice view of the... More

We had a nice family room on top floor (502), great service, nice reception. The room was just big enough to lay out a couple of suitcases, with a small separate room for the kids (2 separate beds). The bathroom was adequate in size, but the bathtub was made from plastic and had stains that bothered my wife and kids,... More

Thanks to the brilliant staff and the phantastic location, is was a splendid stay in Ambassador Hotel. The transfer from the airport was indeed free and super-organised. The English-speaking driver, Bakir, was very friendly and welcoming; he ensured a safe and comfortable trip directly to the hotel (those who know how people drive in Turkey will understand that safety is... The hotel is nicely located with almost all the attractions within walking distance. The view from the terrace is breathe taking, with river and Blue Mosque in sight. The amenities are fairly enjoyable too. Delicious food, standard room service and housekeeping, and hospitality makes the stay comfortable. But for me, above all, was the perfect atmosphere of the hotel and... More

If you are after that little special touch to your holiday, The Ambassador Hotel is the perfect choice. Love this hotel - the rooms, the staff, the view, everything! Second visit to this hotel was just as good as the first. The location is terrific, just a stones throw from the Blue Mosque. Quaint restaurants line the street. The staff cannot be beat - everyone from the front desk to the Demry in the breakfast room. Highly recommend.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
