The location of the Nomade Hotel in the Sultanahmet district was brilliant, incredibly central. A 5 minute walk to the main tourist attractions in the area, The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. 8 minutes to the Grand Bazaar. 10-15 to the Egyptian Spice Market. This central location and the walking distances is great because the traffic in Istanbul can be... More

We stayed here both the first 3 or nights of our trip to Turkey and the last two or 3 nights. It is located near the tram which was ideal for us. It was clean. The price was good. The breakfast was ok. Everything after that pretty much goes to pot. Yes, there are stairs. However, I would say most... More

The only decent thing about this hotel was the location and the views of the Blue Mosque. Our room was booked for 3 people and we were disappointed to get one double bed with one sofa. Furthermore, the room was dark (only one small window), and the floor was caving in which seemed to be a hazard! The staff was... More

We spent 3 nights at this great little hotel and recommend it without hesitation. It was clean, there was plenty of hot water and the bed was excellent - 3 very important things to us. The roof top deck provided wonderful views of the old city, the Blue Mosque in particular. A very good breakfast buffet is served here and... More

Nomade Hotel's location is superb for the tourist. It's right by the Sultanahmet tram stop and sights like Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. It also has a delightful roof patio with a view of the Sea of Marmara and the local sights. The rooms, though, are incredibly simple, small, and a bit run down. Don't expect any... More

Hotel Nomade has a bohemian ambiance and is truly in the heart of the Sultanahmet area, close to major sights like Hagia Sofia and the Hippodrome. However, the downside was the quality of our triple room. It was fairly clean, but had problems with the flooring and the bathroom. One spot of the floor felt ready to collapse every time... More

Nice location and an easy walk through Sulkanahmet and to Taksim Square. Erkhan was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace is very pleasant, and the rooms are sparse and small, but clean. Only negatives: noise from the hallway carries easily and the bathroom don't offer much privacy. As a solo traveler (with a white noise app) it... More

This small hotel is about a block from Aya Sophia and the "Blue Mosque" and surrounded by hundreds of restaurants of all types. The room is small, but safe and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were there 12 nights and the location was perfect. Tram stop about a block away and easy walking distance to the Grand... More

This is right in the heart of Sultanhamet and within seconds of walking distance to Blue Mosque, Sophia Hague and the Cistern. The rooms are clean and simple but just great based on the price. Bathroom is small but has everything you need and again it is clean and in good shape. Would stay again.

It is a small and cozy Hotel in the historical centre of Istanbul. The location is just perfect. The hotel offers a stunning view from its breakfast terrace on the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (AKA Blue Mosque), Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus. Location is so central and strategic to food, shopping and historical sites. it's amazing. Rooms are small but clean... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
