This hotel isn't exactly large but that adds to its charm. The rooms aren't huge but we were not that bothered by it as we spent most of the day exploring the beautiful city. The bedrooms are clean and the staff are friendly and the breakfast is quite nice. If you're planning on staying in Istanbul for a city break... More

After returning from a tour of Turkey and our second stay in Istanbul it was nice to have somewhere that was a quiet oasis but still in the best location and close to everything you would want! The rooms weren't large but were comfortable enough with the ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was fine and a good start to the day.... More

The hotel has a great location, close to all the major attractions and the in the old town. The breakfasts were fantastic, and the dining area felt clean, quaint, and friendly, like a secluded oasis in Istanbul. The rooftop patio was also fantastic - great views and a wonderful place to have a drink and watch the sunset. The rooms... More

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days while in Instanbul and had a great experience. I saw people complaining about the room size, and while they are on the small side, they are very functional and on par with other European hotels. Breakfast on the patio was a highlight and we would spend the rest of the day exploring... More

Stayed a week at Poem with a friend while touristing away in Istanbul. Great location for the historical sites but we also happily walked over the Galata bridge to Beyoglu at least once a day. Our room was small but comfortable with good beds and bathroom. Breakfast was ok with Turkish yoghurt, olives, fresh vegetables and bread, just to mention... More

This was a pleasant stay and a nice boutique hotel in the busy old city district. Staff was so nice and very chatty. Rooms were clean, but small. I had the smallest room of our group. It was just a single bed and 4 walls with tiny shower and toilet but it was just me and it suited me perfect... More

I arrived very tired and was expecting a little larger room. After a very hot shower and a visit to the roof I knew I made the right decision to stay here. I had booked five room for our group. Great wifi except on roof, but there are multiple terraces all with great views of Bosporus. Babylonia restaurant 3 minute... More

Small hotel located in the touristy area of Istanbul. All the major tourist attractions are close-by. Tram station is also just 7-10 minutes walk away. The best thing was the roof-top terrace with beautiful views of sea of Marmara. The only downsides were small room and laid-back service. Would definitely like to return to this place.

Best location ever.. walking distance to the most busiest street that are full of restaurant. A lovely hotel tuck away behind that street hence you wont hear any noise disturbance. Healthy turkish breakfast served at the balcony with the Sea of Marmara view and under a big figs tree. Room are small but clean and functional. Walking distance to all... More

Shared a tiny, but comfortable room in the friendly Hotel Poem last week. Best aspect: the staff. Second best: location and a generous breakfast, served on the terrace, which overlooks the Sea of Marmara. We walked to all the major attractions discovering numerous routes to the Garden that begin at the hotel's front door. Every day was a new adventure... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
