I stayed in this hotel for a weekend during the month of Feb. I couldn't give enough praise to this hotel, each staff member was amazingly helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome during the stay. The breakfast each morning was fresh and perfectly served. The hotel itself is situated within the centre of Istanbul... More

A trip to Istanbul wouldn't be the same without staying at Empress Zoe. We have stayed here 4 separate trips to Istanbul. We love it! We've loved every room we've stayed in (triple room, deluxe garden suite, courtyard suite, and maisonette). We love the helpful staff, the beautifully decorated boutique hotel, the delicious breakfast, the close proximity to famous sights... More

This is the second, or perhaps the third time, I have stayed at this wonderful little hotel. I remembered it as a place of indescribable charm, built around the ruins of an Ottoman bathhouse, from which you woke to the sound of calls to prayer from minarets; and round the corner from the immensity of Hagia Sophia and the Blue... I visited this hotel in January 2016 for a few nights as a solo female traveler. This hotel is so cozy! The breakfast is amazing and there is always a cat or two lounging around that love some attention! The staff is very friendly, the wifi is of good speed and the location is excellent. I always felt safe in... More

I stayed 2 nights at empress Zoe so that I could do a mega day trip to Gallipoli. It is such a charming little hotel. I was travelling on my own and the staff were so friendly. There was a fab breakfast with fresh savoury pastries I highly recommend. I had to leave at 6am on my mega day trip... More

We just spent a lovely weekend in the Villa Zoe Courtyard Suite with our two year old. The staff was wonderful, and the location excellent. This is an intimate and unique hotel. We truly appreciated the communication before arrival (via email - and prompt) as we were able to arrange airport pick-up and a crib for our daughter. We were... More

My family and I visited Istanbul for the first time this last December, soon after Christmas. We were looking to stay close to most attractions to live without taxis or long public transport transfers; we wanted to avoid big, fancy international hotels and stay in a characteristic Turkish place; still we were looking for informal elegance and upmarket service. Well,... More

The location is wonderful and so is the unique layout of the hotel lending itself to private settings. We had one of the most expensive rooms and I don't think it quite lived up to the standard they portrayed on the website. There was little view, mostly of the gardens. I will say it was clean and very warm but... More

Great location, in the middle of sightseeing, but very quiet and full of charm. The rooms are clean and well designed, beautiful common areas, attentive stuff. Lots of stairs to climb. Will definitely stay there again.

This hotel is unique and makes a holiday really a holiday. Why? First of all because the people managing this place are great, helpful and real hosts. Secondly, yes, the location is top if you want to be in the middle of everything in Sulthanamet. The hotel itself, the public spaces and the rooms I have seen are so nicely... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
