Quirky and fab place to stay. Spiral staircase , cats, heaps of stairs, squished rooms but absolutely fabulous Best breakfast in lovely courtyard garden which turns into a relaxed bar at night. Easy to walk wherever and great vibrant neighbourhood Seriously it's the best hotel in Istanbul we stayed 10 nights and loved it

Empress Zoe is a gem of a boutique hotel in Sultanahmet (old quarter of Istanbul). I don't know if it is privately/family owned and operated, but the friendliness and obliging service certainly made it feel that way. Not multi-star fiddly though, so if you want a chocolate on your pillow or tissue paper wrapped around the toilet seat, go elsewhere.... More

My husband & I have just finished a 2 night stay at Hotel Empress Zoe in Istanbul, and what a delightful stay we have had. The hotel is simply divine! From its beautiful, historic reception area to the top of the marble stairs this boutique hotel oozes Turkish charm and hospitality. Staff are warm and welcoming and you feel very... More

Our family of five stayed in the Maisonette room in Hotel Zoe Empress for 5 nights, and enjoyed our stay immensely. This boutique hotel is very Turkish, very well-decorated, and is an excellent base from which to visit the must-sees of the city. It is literally behind Hagia Sophia, and is a few steps from the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace,... More

I just said goodbye today to this delightful family of 5 from the Philippines with a zest for life and travel. We had so much fun with them. They must bring good feelings wherever they go. Thank you for the lovely review. I hope you will visit us again. Mabuhay :) More

We visited in the middle of a snowstorm so the garden and terraces were not like the photos! It was still beautiful though and a cosy place to escape from the cold outside. We had the penthouse suite which worked very well for a family of 4. There's a curtain to close off the double bed, and two little beds... More

We love cats and eclectic bohemian artistic surroundings and Empress Zoe was a dream come true. We had been avoiding staying in the tourist intensity of Sultanahmet until we found Empress Zoe. It is now one of our absolute favorite boutique hotel! Across from the yellow ochre walls of the posh Four Seasons Hotel on a quiet side street, Empress... More

Thank you Margaret for your heartfelt review. I could say a lot about how glad I am that we fit your requirements so perfectly. Suffice to say we are soul mates. I left a piece of my heart in San Francisco too. I don't answer all of our reviews, mainly the ones where there are issues. But I appreciate all... More

Walk to everything in Sultanahmet. Around the corner from Four Seasons. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooftop deck. Had a single room which was small (to be expected) but had window s on each side. Tip for Istanbul : most people are very nice. If they are super nice, they most likely want to sell you a carpet. Be... More

This was our first time in Istanbul and this hotel was in the perfect location. It is at the end of "restaurant street" so food was easy to find every night. It is right by the palace and both famous mosques so we were able to see everything easily. Our room had a great terrace attached which was wonderful. Staff... More

Thank you for your positive review. I am checking immediately into the bathroom smell. That is strange as I check the rooms and bathrooms regularly. I will be sure to have it fixed and sincerely apologize for that. Regarding the noise. You probably stayed towards the end of April when the huge centennial celebration of Gallipoli was going on. There... More

I recently stayed in the Penthouse apartment and wow! What a fabulous spot! Private terraces covered in Wisteria just below the Blue Mosque in the old town, with views in all directions. Sure, the call to prayer is a little loud, but that's just part of the charm of Istanbul. Lovely large room with a cute sleeping hideout and a... More

I go on a 'Granny trip' each year to a different city with two friends. Empress Zoe was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed. We wanted a room to sleep 3 and had room 504 for 5 nights last week. It was perfect with plenty of space with tea making facilities and a table to... More
