Loved our stay here. Staff was so friendly, and the place was beautifully decorated. Incredibly charming and rustic garden and bar area, and terraces with breathtaking views. Close to the Blue Mosque, Arasta Bazaar, and lots of restaurants, very easy to get to the Old City but feels more tucked away and relaxed. Very clean, great bathrooms. Note that there... More

The Empress Zoe was an absolutely amazing experience for our family (we are a family of 4, two adults, two teens), it is in amazing proximity to all of the must sees and also interesting, less popular areas. We found that the garden suite certainly satisfied our needs! A beautifully finished bathroom (marble and natural stones), a nicely sized master... More

We stayed across the street from the Zoe 14 years ago and pined to stay there, so on this trip we stretched our budget to do so. I think if you are a couple the rooms are more comparable to other hotels, but we had the terrace suite (to fit the four of us) which was more pricey. The Zoe's... More

We stayed here last week after I sae many great reviews on trip advisor. The hotel is really charming and lovely. It's an oasis in a bustling tourist zone. It has a lovely garden which we loved sitting in. It would've been an extra plus if there were some.sort of meals offered by the hotel (even just sandwiches) to eat... More

Stayed there for one night. It was a room for three. Nothing special about the room. Regular to small size and the bathroom was small too. Very basic, should have more charm considering the location and the beauty of the small internal garden. The entrance is absolutely strange. It is in the basement which is very beautiful and you can... More

This place is magnificent. The interior is impeccably decorated, rooms are quaint and beautiful. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Our room was capacious and our balcony overlooked some of the city. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. The hotel was adjacent to all of the sites. Love this place. Love the people, love the culture and... More

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at Empress Zoe. The staff is incredibly helpful and the rooms and public spaces were lovely and charming. I adored the courtyard with flowers, bushes and trees packed with fountains, nooks and several tables throughout for eating breakfast in the mornings. Their roof top terrace is also a delight. Grab some excellent mojitos from... More

I stayed a week at the Empress Zoe during my visit to Istanbul. The staff here is very friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable and the breakfast garden area is a wonderful way to start your day plotting your Istanbul adventure. I can't wait to return!

Dear R Carril, Thank you for your very complimentary review and such great pictures. I particularly love the third one which gives the atmosphere of the breakfast area so perfectly. Mojo is our favourite and oldest cat and you captured him so well. That photograph works perfectly in every way, a great portrait. Thank you, we shall treasure it. We... More

I stayed at the Empress Zoe about seven years ago on a business trip, but decided to stay again last week as I remembered the location was perfect for exploring historic Istanbul on foot, something I would actually have time to do on this trip. I booked quite late and could only get the smallest single room in the hotel... More

Staying at Empress Zoe for more than a week last Christmas and New Year, it has a antique architecture, romantic ambience and warm yet friendly atmosphere. Empress Zoe is just a very nice place to stay with helpful staff member, EXCELLENT BREAKFAST and comfortable room. I wouldn't complain for most of hotel facility (room, bathroom, bed). The only thing that... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
