My son and I spent the month of September in Turkey, starting with a week in Istanbul. What great good fortune we felt to find this little gem! Location is impossible to surpass. So is the delicious breakfast buffet which guests eat in their beautiful quintessential hidden-in-the-city garden or any of a few other warm, welcoming rooms. You can feel... More

A four minute walk to Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia. 15 minutes to Grand Bazzaar and Spice market. A friendly Turkish hotel, small but comfortable rooms. Cozy breakfast area. Expect stairs. If arriving at the airport have the hotel make transfer arrangements for you, hotel location might be difficult to find otherwise.

We stayed for six nights at the beginning of November. It's a small lovely hotel with welcoming helpful staff. Very close to the popular spots in Sultanahmet and an easy 20 minute walk to the ferries and Galata bridge. The standard double room was a tight squeeze but not uncomfortable. Hotel breakfast was wonderful, all very fresh. Favourites: bowl of... More

I stayed here in August 2014 after a gap of over 10 years and I can honestly say the hotel has improved with age. The location is perfect for anyone with an interest in Ottoman Istanbul. (Unfortunately, the aggressive touts who hang around the streets nearby gave not changed; they pretend to be friendly - endless shouted questions asking where... More

We've been staying at Empress Zoe for 20 years. I guess that speaks for itself. Quaint, reasonably priced, helpful and friendly staff, perfect location in old Istanbul...this is how I would describe this lovely little hotel. An idyllic getaway for a couple or small group.

We loved this little hotel in the heart of SultanAhmet Square. It was convenient to all the historic attractions of SultanAhmet, but also close to Metro and the ferries. The hotel itself is a gem, with a lovely garden. We ate our breakfasts (which were fabulous) in the garden, and enjoyed raki there in the afternoons. The staff was incredibly... More

As others have said this hotel is a true gem. What makes it stand out from oethr hotels in the area of are the friendly staff, lovely garden and atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, especially the lovely Hatice, whether it was helping with getting to places or recommending shops. She recommended a leather shop from where... More

This little hotel is something special. My family is from Istanbul but I wanted to show my boyfriend the touristic part of Istanbul so we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. It is located directly between all the sights you need to see if you visit Istanbul, from the roof terrace you have a stunning view on the blue... More

I was there this summer for 3 nights. To start with good aspects: the location is definitely awesome to visit Ayasophia, blue mosque, Topkapi and grand bazaar by foot (this is a bit further). Good air conditioner, little garden for breakfast is cute, But then, as to the hotel itself, it was a big disappointment. Given its price (250e per... More

It is certainly disappointing and very unusual for us at Hotel Empress Zoe to receive a rating of "poor". Firstly 250 euros is the rate for 2 person occupancy of our most expensive suite, the Maison Zoe duplex suite, which sleeps up to 5 people in 2 separate bedrooms and an upstairs living room with 2 terraces and views. We... More

Hotel Empress Zoe lives upto its reputation on Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet. My husband and I prefer hunting for small boutique hotels to stay, and usually give the Hyatts and the Hiltons a pass. Things I aboslutely loved: 1. The decor! I am a sucker for decor that reflects the heritage and history of the location. Empress Zoe, true... More
