I stayed at the Empress Zoe about seven years ago on a business trip, but decided to stay again last week as I remembered the location was perfect for exploring historic Istanbul on foot, something I would actually have time to do on this trip. I booked quite late and could only get the smallest single room in the hotel... More

Staying at Empress Zoe for more than a week last Christmas and New Year, it has a antique architecture, romantic ambience and warm yet friendly atmosphere. Empress Zoe is just a very nice place to stay with helpful staff member, EXCELLENT BREAKFAST and comfortable room. I wouldn't complain for most of hotel facility (room, bathroom, bed). The only thing that... More

Took a room at the Empress Zoe on the basis of a friend's recommendation. When I told my Turkish friends where I would be staying, they told me they always put up visiting friends and family there. The help are just that - helpful. The rooms clean and delightful in their decoration. Excellent buffet breakfast. Lovely garden for evening drinks.

Spent a fabulous 5 nights in Istanbul using the Empress Zoe as our base.We had a garden suite which was lovely. The staff were all superb and very helpful. The cats weren't very helpful but Jasper (ginger) and Sophie (YouTube internet star) were great company. Manjur kept himself to himself and we respected that. Breakfast was superb (out in the... This is a wonderful small hotel, in a extremely convenient location, with a staff that is very helpful and friendly. It is within walking distance of the major attractions - Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Cistern. We stayed in the Villa Terrace Suite, which has a nice sitting area and a small outdoor balcony where we could... More

What can you say about this super little hotel that hasn’t already been said – it really is a gem. A superb location, right in the heart of Sultanahmet, within walking distance of Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and the Basilica Cistern, it provides the perfect base for an Istanbul short break. An easy walk up to the... More

This small boutique hotel was a great choice for our first trip to Istanbul. It's walking distance to every site on the top ten list of places to visit and is at the end of a street filled with bars and restaurants and yet we never heard any street noise. The buffet breakfast is delicious and the courtyard garden is... More

A very big thank you to the staff at the Empress Zoe for making our stay so pleasurable. A stone's throw from the historic heart of Istanbul , quirky and welcoming, with a beautiful garden (complete with pussycats) in which to enjoy an early evening drink and eat a copious Turkish breakfast. Rooms were clean and beautifully decorated and the... More

Empress Zoe’s location is key. It’s right next to dozens of wonderful restaurants that are top-rated and ridiculously inexpensive (our favorite Alaron - 100 feet from hotel). And, it is within easy walking distance to some of the major sights: 5 minutes to Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque; 20 minutes to the Grand and Egyptian bazaars. There’s a grocery store... More

If you want to stay in the Sultanahmet area, I would make the Empress Zoe your first choice. Great location; charming/historical setting; boutique (only ten rooms I believe), but without being 'over boutiquey'/over designed! I would recommend the suites over the rooms; much more spacious and good value. Talking of value, the hotel is located next the Four Seasons, but... More
