This funky little hotel is so charming with its many lanterns and walls covered with Turkish and Islamic art. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the food is exceptional. One of the nicer places to get an adult beverage too. The outdoor patio is simply blissful. The perfect place to sip an Efes while escaping the heat. The... More

From the moment you walk in to this place you are transported somewhere afar, somewhere enchanting, a casba where the hundreds of twinkiling lamps, the textiles, the photographs remind you of a time long past. The gregarious owners could not be more helpful and committed to satisfying- if not anticipating- your every comfort.

Loved this small boutique hotel. Comfortable room with balcony. Nice generous bathrooms. Cafe is so handy with great food. People stop to take photos of the cute building and interior as they walk by. Staff so helpful and friendly and make you feel at home. Helped with itenery suggested places to visit and organized transfers and travel agency. Best location... More

I am so happy to have stumbled upon this adorable hotel in the heart of the old city. While it is only a stones throw away from the hagia Sofia, blue mosque and other historical sites, it is really a world away. Filled with unique antiques, there is always something to look at while the kind chef introduces the breakfast... More

Found this hotel on TripAdvisor, and was not disappointed. Felt I had to leave a review because I had such a great experience. I arrived in Istanbul in the afternoon and the front desk staff informed me that they had upgraded me to a double room free of charge, and also extended the courtesy of late check out (without me... I came upon this hotel on the suggestion of a friend who has stayed there before and lauded the hotel. It is quite the gem in Istanbul. The staff was friendly and English was the lingua franca. I noticed Germans and Italians using English to communicate with the hosts. They were marvelously fluent. I was pleased by the attentive care... More

I've stayed at the Kybele at least a half a dozen times now; it's the only place I've ever stayed in Istanbul, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The staff is beyond compare -- it very much feels like a family, and I feel as if there isn't anything they wouldn't do for me or for any other guest. The... More

The Kybele hotel is undoubtedly charming in an offbeat way, that makes it stand out from the cookie cutter "Ottoman style" boutique hotels around them. The pictures are completely accurate and don't begin to showcase this madcap charm of the hotel. It's chokful of antiques - real antiques - and there's always something to look at. Rooms are fine, and... More

The hotel is lovely and centrally located, but on a mainly pedestrianised street, so quieter than other areas. The rooms are clean, the food good and the small terraced garden is a lovely spot. Hotel staff were very helpful. We would return to this hotel.

Lovely decor and Turkish lamps hanging from the ceiling, comfortable beds, Wi-Fi super reliable and breakfast was delicious (chef was very enthusiastic and loaded my plate up for me while I chatted with him). Reception staff were friendly, despite a mild language barrier with some. We only booked a double yet somehow ended up in the 3 bed + couch... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
