We stayed here for about 4 nights, which I should say 4 terrible nights. The room was very dirty - the bed sheets were so dirty and smelly. It's on top of a club/bar, which makes your room so so so noisy (till 3-4am!!). The bathroom was also not comfortable - water licking into the entire bathroom. We tried to... More

I'v been there few years ago, and would always recommend this hotel for a short stay, if you choose to be close to Taksim. It is very good location and neighborhood is very charming. Roms are small but clean. Breakfast is served on the rooftop with spectacular views of the Bosphorus.

A friend who lives in the Taksim section of Istanbul suggested that I stay at Villa Zurich for my two-night stay. I was very pleased. It is a typical older, but clean, small European hotel. The rooms (mine was a single) are small and the showers tiny (fortunately I had lost a lot of weight a while ago or I'd... More

The hotel is quite nice (clean and tasteful); and the staff is friendly and attentive. So why a 1-star review? The club attached to the hotel (Prokopi) played terrible music at ear-blistering volumes, until 4am, even on a weeknight. I have no idea what they were thinking, but don't bother trying to sleep if you stay at the hotel. You... More

Well, actually we planned a stay at an AirBnB address, but that was so terrible that we neveer unpacked our suitcases and started looking around for a hotel. Luckily we envcountered Villa Zurich nearby in a very nice neighbourhood with some good restaurants and coffee places nearby. The rrooms are very good for a 3star hotel, staff very helpfull and... Small room but cleaned. Friendly street will a lot of cafes restaurants. Breakfast was....poor, small choice for local people and too bad for westerners! When I asked 1 fried egg I was asked to pay extra, I thought it was a bit mean considering I did not eat the other food. People at reception very nice and helpful.

I expected something more for that money. However the breakfast room is priceless, with an unique view on the city and the marvellous gulf, and the personnel very kind. The room was OK, although it looked a little dated, and the neighbourhood lovely, with a lot of nice cafés, restaurants and shops

I travel to Istanbul on a monthly basis due to my job. I normally spend 3 to 4 weeks in Istanbul at a stretch. I been doing this for a while and try to stay a new hotel near Taksim on every visit. Saw a good offer from "Hotel Villa Zurich", so I decided to book it for 3 weeks.... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
