The Ayasofya Hotel is conveniently located in historical Sultanahmet, within close walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofya, the cisterns and the Grand Bazaar. Thloe building is old but quite lovely and the reception area is warm, comfortable and inviting. The rooms are small, as is typical in this part of the word, and the breakfast is excellent. There is... More

I found this place accidentally online when I had decided it was easier to get most of our Turkey tour done by someone else rather than doing our own thing. I was a bit unsure about which part of Istanbul to stay in as the demonstrations were on when we were planning a year in advance. The hotel was in... More

- Good location (major tourist attractions are located within walking distance) - Very friendly staff (helpful and with smiley face) - Value for money - Wifi speed is not up to the mark - Good room heating system

We found this gem of a hotel,a renovated Ottoman House in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul, a 5minute walk to the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia Basilica. The hotel staff were welcoming and ready to help in organising our tours both outside Istanbul and also day trips in and around Istanbul. We were able to enjoy hearty breakfasts and... More

Stayed with family for three nights in December 2014. About 20 minutes from Ataturk Airport. Collected by hotel van as arranged. Stayed in large family room on top floor. Good size for 2 adults and 2 children. Tidy room with good heating. BBC and CNN on the TV. In quiet neighbourhood about five minutes' walk from the main sights. Felt... More

Located jus 300 meters downhill from the Hippodrome and the Blue Mosque the Ayasofya is the choice hotel for us in Istanbul. Located in the heart of the Sultanamet district ( old town) it is ideally located for a walking tour of the major sites in Istanbul. The hotel is small and is in an old building undergoing renovations. The... More

My wife and I spent 12 nights here in Novembr/December after an epic eleven week Eastern European holiday. Our research proved to correct because our stay turned out to very memorable and for many of the reasons that other patrons have explained in earlier reviews. The hotel is quaint and quirky, you get allot experience living in the neighbourhood and... More

Ayasofya is a small hotel 3 minutes walk from Sultan Ahmet center. It is a value for money hotel. The staff is more than polite and always helpful. Cosi rooms with a traditional touch in an area with interesting architecture. There is a quite terrace where you can enjoy tea, coffee or a beer almost in private. The best characteristic... More

Everything about the hotel is fantastic; it's a short walk to everything you want to visit in the old town; the rooms have so much personality - don't come here if you like bland uniformity; the staff are great - Gaye and Greg are great hosts; we loved the roof-top bar - it has a stunning view and was great... This small hotel would be a more pleasant stay were it not so noisy. Rooms are relatively clean, comfortable, very average in general, with very tiny bathroom (shower/WC combined). Average breakfast but very good location close to Blue Mosque etc. However, walls are extremely thin and every sound made by other guests can be heard throughout the night and early... More

Thanks to our guest for her review. I have checked her booking and see that she had booked a standard room and with a stay of 10 days or so was a long term guest. We have rooms of various shapes and sizes because of the nature of the historic building. Her room was quite a good size and she... More
