We can only add to the acclamations of previous reviews - The Ayasofya Hotel, in an old Ottoman House, reminded us of a pensione we stayed at in Rome on our first trip to Europe 40 years ago - atmospheric, tucked away in a labyrinth of narrow streets in the heart of the old city we came to see and... We stumbled on to the Ayasofya by way of serendipity. The first hotel we selected was unable to process the payment and Ayasofya being next on the list ended up being the place to stay. And it was indeed a good choice. The boutique property is tucked away close to some of the well known tourist landmarks. Having just said... More

Situated in Old Istanbul and just a few minutes walk to Sultanahmet area. Not baby buggy friendly as the ground is cobbled stone and you'll be walking up & down the slopes. The hotel is really quaint. Unfortunately my elderly mother-in-law had to stay with us at the family suite on the top floor and there were no lifts. The... More

When researching where to stay in Old Istanbul I selected the Ayasofya as it was just meant to be. The Ayasofya is situated in a quiet area of the old town, right in front of a 4th Century Theodosian Wall. It is surrounded by many restaurants, cafes, shops selling Turkish Delights, dried fruits and nuts etc, and is close to... More

Small boutique style hotel. Conveniently located just 2 minutes walk from all the iconic attractions of Sultan Ahmet area. Friendly staff and speak excellent English and very helpful and knowledgeable of all tourist attractions in Istanbul. They will also arrange if guests wants to do day or long tour of Istanbul and other regions of Turkey.

This spring time I have spent the whole month of April in Turkey and travelled all along the Mediterranean coast line from Bodrum in the West of Turkey to Hatay in the East near the Syrian border with 8 stops in various places. Therefore I have stayed in many different accommodations. But the first four and last three nights of... More

I stayed at this great vibrant hotel for 4 days with my 21 Year Old son, leading up to Anzac Day Service and we had a fantastic time. Gaye the Owner all I can say is so welcoming, always around and offering help and ideas she is truly a beautiful person and you feel so welcomed. Greg was a legend... More

My father and I had a wonderful stay at the Ayasofya Hotel recently. Gaye and Greg and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind in making our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is fantastic as a lot of the major attractions are within easy walking distance and there are... More

We recently stayed seven nights at this hotel and what a great find it was. Gaye and Greg were fabulous hosts and made us feel very welcome and comfortable in this fascinating city. Their tips, advice and friendliness made our stay that much more enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble for them. The roof top terrace is a wonderful... More
