If you're expecting a "cookie cutter" replica of an American style hotel you will be disappointed. However, if you want a quaint room with the feeling of Ottoman Turkey, then this is your place. The staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful with everything we needed during our two week stay. Ayasofya Hotel will be our first stop... More

Gaye and Greg were the best hosts when I stayed at Ayasofya Hotel in easter this year, with my children. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located a short walk from the Blue Mosque, restaurants and sites. Gaye designed a personalised walking tour for us and took us around the spice markets and restaurants off the tourist beat.... More

I recently visited Turkey and stayed a week in Istanbul at the Hotel Ayasofya Hotel. It was much nicer and friendlier than staying in the big tourist hotels. The owner/manager is an Australian woman and she and her staff were exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble. It is located very near the Blue Mosque and other attractions and also close... More

Ideally located but needs big time renovations. The bed springs are creeping, the bathroom doors and exhaust dint work ,while you are bathing the water will suddenly become very slow and cold coz someone else is using. Five nights and were made to change the room twice. The staff is good and cooperative. There was no change at all in the... More

Thank you to these guests for their review. Firstly I would like to mention that they initially changed rooms at THEIR request as they sought a larger room, despite being allocated a Standard Twin Room which they originally booked. The second change was due to a huge thunderstorm which affected the air conditioner in their room - a force of... More

Location is a plus point, blue mosque, ayasofya, basilica cistern were within walk's reach. The area around the hotel is friendly. You can find little shops and restaurants nearby. The building has an old charm, but the rooms do need a lot of work. Bathroom was too small. The restaurant at the terrace has an amazing view of the sea.... More

Thank you to our guest for taking the time to review out hotel. We believe we are in the best location in the Old City - close to everything but far enough away to still have a local flavour. As to our guest's comment regarding the room, we do have a variety of room sizes. Some are smaller whilst some... More

Gaye and her staff at Ayasofya Hotel were friendly, helpful and accommodating, making our first visit to Istanbul all the more pleasant. Situated in the old town of Istanbul (Sultanahmet district), it's a delightful building with loads of charm. There are no lifts, but the walk up the stairs is worth it. The rooftop terrace allows for a secluded retreat... More

Our visit to Turkey was greatly enhanced by the friendly and generous owners and staff at Ayasofya. We had been recommended by friends to book and we are glad we did. Gaye and staff are just wonderful and helped us with our further travels throughout Turkey.

We were lucky enough to spend 2 weeks at Ayasofya late November and early December and highly recommend staying here if you want to be in a local neighbourhood away from touristy carpet salesman and restaurants. It is truly a local experience in a quaint and quirky old Ottoman house, furnished in such a way so that you really know... More
