The staff were incredibly helpful, with transportation, an orientation on what to do/where to go, with a map included. The location is incredibly close to many of the main sites for the oldest part of town, that is- Hagia Sofia, Topkopi Palace, Basilica Cistern, etc.- all within easy walking distance. Our room was small, but we weren't there for the... More

Close to all the major attractions in Old Istanbul, but just enough out of the way to give you a sense of tranquility. Beautifully renovated and cleverly decorated. We made the roof top terrace our gathering place, small bar up there, great view. Excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. We had one of the tiny twin rooms which might scare... More

It is located in the very heart of the old city and pretty close to most significant historical and architectural sites of MUST category. The Blue Mosque is right next door, The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts ( surprisingly interesting for me) is just behind the corner… You need literally 5 minutes walking to get Topkapi Palace and Hagia... We stayed in this hotel only for one night whilst visiting Istanbul, but the service and facilities were excellent. Firstly the location in Sultanahmet was absolutely fantastic. Couldn't get more central if you tried. The hotel itself was a small stylish boutique hotel, it almost felt like someone's home when you first arrived. Our room was large, it could almost... More

Located footsteps away from the Hippodrome, this outstanding turn of the 20th century hotel created from two private homes, nestled in quiet narrow streets offered a convenient, yet private home away from home for any budding Turkophile. Each room is unique and offers a one-of-a-kind layout, complete with minibar, beautiful wall sconces adorned with soaring Turkish calligraphy, a modern spacious... More

This was a really nice hotel in an ideal location. Situated right next to the Blue Mosque, it is close to the tram, bus and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is a nice continental breakfast in the hotel from 7:30. All in all I highly recommend this as a place to stay when in Istanbul.

I recently had a wonderful stay at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the main attractions including the Blue Mosque (about 2 mins), Sancta Sophia Mosque (5 mins) and the Grand Bazaar (15 mins). Whilst the room was slightly small, it was very nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast and wifi... More

Great location, professional staff, lovely rooms and a fantastic view from the rooftop outdoor area. The breakfast and eating area were wonderful, with some food and drinks prepared in front of us, giving it a very homely welcoming feel. For the price, it was a step above other places we have stayed at in the area - traditional, but modern... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights in this hotel. Location is excellent, overlooking the Blue Mosque. Breakfast delightful. All the staff are extremely friendly. The rooftop bar is lovely after dinner and you can enjoy a drink over looking Hagia Sofia or Blue Mosque. Our room was a little shabby but is was well laid out with a handy walk in... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
