We stayed in the Deersaadet Hotel twice in June 2015 on our way to the south and on our return. We loved the old wooden building that is part of Isanbul's heritage. The location could not be better situated as it is in such a pretty neighbourhood behind Sultlanamet and close to Hagia Sophia. Wandering around these streets on summers'... More

Words cannot truly describe the experience my husband and I had in Istanbul starting with this hotel. The country alone is a wonderful place to visit and the hotel staff are a great representation of the Turkish people. They are very welcoming, hospitable, and accommodating. The front desk staff are knowledgeable and recommended a ton of great restaurants and helped... More

Excellent location, just 200m down from the Blue Mosque, 300m from the T1 Tram line. More important, the staff was very welcoming and very helpful at all times. Excellent view of the Marmara Sea and the entrance to the Bosporus from the breakfast/lounge roof terrace. The room was old style with modern bathroom and all very clean. Free WiFin the... More

As our first trip to Istanbul (on our way to other Europe destinations), we stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Dersaadet. I can honestly say, the hotel was excellent in every way. First, the location for exploring cannot be beat. It is within minutes of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. All easily walkable from the hotel. Additionally... More

Dersaadet Hotel Istanbul was a friendly, small hotel. Staff were very helpful. The rooms had lots of old style fittings and the bathroom was like a small Turkish bath. Breakfast on the roof overlooking the Blue Mosque and the harbour was amazing.

I've stayed in a lot of places. At the Dersaadet, they make you feel especially welcome from the moment you arrrive until you leave. It's not just the front desk but the restaurant. The location is outstanding. The view from the roof/restaurant is spectacular. It was clean, and loaded with character.

In our wonderful suite, we enjoyed a wonderful stay in this little, ideally situated just beneath the Blue Mosque. The building itself is worth seeing. And the little bar on the roof top terrace where you eat breakfast and can have a little drink in the evening gives you a impressive sight on Bosphorus and Marmara see on one side,... More

We loved this place and will return to it on our next visit. It is an old hotel, so don't expect the Four Seasons. But the decor is charming, the rates are reasonable, and the staff could not be more helpful. The very best thing about it is the location, just a short walk in one direction to the Blue... More

Istanbul became a favorite city to visit mostly because of the thoughtful assistance provided by the staff of this hotel. Clean, a lovely rooftop cafe, comfortable rooms--priceless!! The front desk provided suggestions on places to visit, cultural tips, places to avoid, and readily made reservations for us at some must-see things in Istanbul. As a result, we saw an amazing... Loved this quaint boutique hotel with beautiful roof top terrace and great breakfast. Towels and linen wee all new. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's within walking distance to the major old town sites.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
