Great little hotel, fantastic location, close to main attractions, very nice helpful staff, breakfast is good not great, but on par with most of Turkey, quiet but in a lively area of town. Would definitely stay here again

Intimate, charming and stylish little boutique hotel in an ideal location in the very heart of the old city. From the friendly and efficient check-in to the spectacular roof top views that took in the Blue Mosque, harbour & Hagia Sofia, this is a fantastic Sultanamet small hotel. We loved our balcony room (one of the standard rooms, which while... More

My travel agent put me here, the deluxe room was roomy but the facilities were bare minimum in the hotel. Clean and comfortable. Minimal breakfast , but the smiling cook was eager to please. Front staff was average.

We selected the Hotel Uyan from the internet with no prior knowledge of Istanbul. Our experience there was delightful. We had a quiet, clean and spacious room at the rear of the hotel, the only sound penetrating our solitude was the call to prayer which we found soulful and stirring. A fabulous location from which to explore the delights of... More

I stayed there for one night only. The double room was extremely small but had a cute little balcony with flowers and a table and two chairs. The staff at the reception wasn't too friendly and helpful. I found dark hair on the bed and in the bathroom, but apart from this the room was clean. It's location is great,... More

Helpful, courteous and friendly reception. Efficient Room person. My favourite was Akke (sp) who made sure every breakfast was something to look forward to. His smile would light up the place. Breakfast on the terrace is something I shall miss very much. The views to the Blue Mosque, Ayasofia and the Bosphorus set one up ready for the day. An... More

Absolutely perfect location! Around the corner from several big sites. Centrally located, lovely staff and decent sized rooms. Will definitely be coming back. Booked transfers through hotel and they were efficient and on time. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here with my sister and 2 adult children for several days before a cruise in June. The location was just perfect - in the heart of Sultanahmet but on a quiet street, just a couple blocks from many significant sights. We loved the quaintness of the hotel and found it very comfortable. A breakfast buffet is served on... More

Hotel Uyan is outstanding in its class. Nestled in picturesque old streets it is no more than a few hundred metres from Agia Sophia, the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque and other attractions. It is also easy to reach other parts of Istanbul by the efficient tram line nearby. Rooms are well equipped, comfortable and immaculately clean. Breakfast is included in the... More

The Hotel Uyan is a wonderful hotel in the heart of Istanbul. It is steps from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. We stayed for 3 nights. We wish we would have stayed longer. We are a family of 5. We rented the basement family apartment. It was more than big enough with a king bedroom, a triple twin... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
