Four Seasons Sultanahmet deserves its reputation as the place to stay in Istanbul. The ideal location is matched by the large comfortable rooms with the best bed you will sleep in and a fantastic shower. What really made our stay perfect was the helpful staff. Not only were they all friendly and polite, the concierge gave us excellent advice on... More

A beautiful hotel, converted from an old Turkish prison (although you would never realise this unless told!) with a quiet and peaceful courtyard in the centre. We were only here for a lunch, so I can't review the bedroom facilities but what I glimpsed as I wandered around the hotel was very impressive. The public areas are very tastefully decorated... More

If there is a better place to stay in Istanbul I cannot imagine it. The Four Seasons is lovely but very expensive. It is located in the old prison but the rooms are a bit more comfortable than they were in Midnight Express. It is situated in the best possible location effectively between the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia,... More

Staying just one night at the Four Seasons Sultanahmet was almost like being in the fabled world of 1001 nights. Not only is the transformation of this historical building from notorious prison to luxurious retreat truly remarkable, walking through the beautifully renovated Interior furnished with a stunning array of antiques and artefacts, or having tea in the imaginatively landscaped gardens... This hotel is a peaceful oasis right in the middle of the most popular Istanbul attractions. The garden area is beautiful and it is a perfect place to come back to after a day out and about. The food was nothing to write home about but there are plenty of places in the nearby vicinity.

You arrive and are offered tea as your room is not ready. Your waiter introduces himself as the Restaurant and (quaintly) the Food Safety Manager, brings the tea and offers various complimentary local delicacies, which he insists you should try. When your room is ready, you discover fresh seasonal fruit and later in the day local sweetmeats are delivered. But... More

We had a great stay here! The property has just 65 rooms, which gives it a boutique-ish feel that we liked very much. Positives: * Historic property full of character * Very convenient location in the middle of Sultanahmet's main sights * Peaceful garden courtyard * Very nicely appointed suite; some sensitively applied Turkish touches (e.g., rugs, prints) to give... Situated almost between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque on a gentrified side street of shops, with a rooftop bar that is enveloped by these sites, it is hard to imagine a better location. But while in the midst of these major attractions, the restaurant and public space of this hotel are in a beautiful and quiet courtyard. Rooms overlooking... More

We spent three nights at this hotel in September 2014. We upgraded to a "unique" suite on site and were very happy we did so. It was a beautifully appointed room, and a wonderful place to retreat after a day of touring. The hotel is located within a few minutes of restaurants and the main sights (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia,... More

We arrived at the hotel which we booked through their website at about 10 o'clock in the morning and although we knew our room wouldn't be ready, we were checked in straight away and offered an upgrade to one of the top floor suites. We were also treated to a welcome coffee and and biscuits in the lovely inner courtyard.... More
