The Side Hotel is located in a great, safe area of the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. The Pension refers to the rooftop area that views in equal close distance from the hotel, both the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. They both are within a very short walk. The hotel is nothing too fancy so if you that is what you... More

Located in the old town (within walking distance to many of the main sites- Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Basilica Cistern and Topkapi Palace and nearby to decent restaurants) Friendly, helpful staff with complementary tea whenever you like. Breakfast included, limited choice but okay. No lift access but only 3 flights of stairs. Roomy bedrooms with comfortable beds. We were recommended... More

The side hotel is centrally located and easy walking distance to many historical sites of interest and the waterfront. The rooms are quaint and well maintained. Everything was always clean and in good working order. The provided breakfasts were very nice. You can see the water front and shipping lanes into Istanbul from the rooftop dining area. "Very Nice" This... More

This hotel is amazing and perfect for women travelers going to Istanbul. We stayed in the hotel side - the rooms were spacious, clean and had air conditioning which is necessary in the summer! Its kind of like a balance between a hotel and hostel which was perfect for us because we are just a couple years out of college.... More

I stayed for three nights in June 2015. They were very responsive in making the reservation and organising an airport transfer. The rooms are simple but comfortable. The best feature is the location - it is less than a minute from the ayasofia and blue mosque

We loved sitting on the rooftop terrace eating the beautiful pastries and yoghurt. The owner and the people running the kitchen are so lovely and helpful. Rooms are basic but comfortable. So close to all the major sites in the Old City.

Staying here my every visit! More than 10 times in Side, and now it's my favourite, almost family place. Recommend to everybody! Super location, very friendly stuff, excellent view from the roof, free wifi!

Side Hotel and Pension was a great stay for me during a week in Istanbul. It is in a great location, just a few steps from the Hagia Sophia and the Sultan Ahmed (Blue) Mosque. Clean rooms and bathrooms, free tea, always someone available to help. Great rooftop terrace with excellent views and delicious breakfast every morning. A great little... More

We have stayed at the Side many times over the years and it continues to provide a quality service for a great price. Our usual choice would be the pension as it is more economical and unless you require a/c not much different than the hotel. Breakfasts are plain Turkish breakfasts...and are very fresh...with cereal and juice available. Happily recommend... More

Best score ever for this CLEAN, fresh we'll run pension. We had 3 adults in our room and had plenty of space to move around without bumping into anything. Daily towel and bathroom cleaning service. Hot water at any time of day. Delightful surrounding area with great restaurants. Magnificent roof top garden to simply be enjoyed. Breakfast included- nothing spectacular... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
