Stayed here for a week over Christmas. Very friendly staff and a great location in a popular area. Shops and food very close by. It is a modest hotel/hostel but was clean and had everything we needed. Nice breakfast in the morning of bread, cheese, vegetables, egg, fruit, coffee and teas. Good wifi.

I have stayed at East West several times and plan to stay there next time I am in Istanbul. Location is great if Beyoglu is where you like to be, just off Istiklal street, within easy walking distance to many places including Taksim square and Galata tower and beyond. Hagia Sophia, for example is only around 4km /40min walk away.... More

We spent there one night in July 2015. The hostel is in a small street that we couldn't find very easily. When we arrived, the staff was very friendly, they answered all of our questions and gave us a map of the district. Our room was on the 4th floor and it was a little bit difficult to get up... More

The beds are comfortable, there is free wifi, a nice continental breakfast is included. The staff are really friendly and there is a cool vibe in the place. I had a nice time bonding with other guests over beers just outside the door. The location is ideal - near so many tourist attractions and bars. Would stay there again.

Situated in the beautiful vibrant Taksim area in Istanbul, this charming little hostel is very well hidden away in one of the side street off Istiklal Avenue. We came with a large group of 16+ students on a trip, and we were shown great hospitality from the very friendly staff. Definitely recommend for anyone travelling solo or in need a... More

I've stayed in the hostel for almost 10 days and I've found it very amusing. Why? 1. You can ask anything to the staff members and even to the people who are staying in the hostel. Kindness is one of the best things about this place. 2. The location is a 5-minute away from the busy Istiklal Caddesi. It is... More

If you're planning to stay around Istiklal Street and are travelling on a budget, this place will prove worth the buck. Service was good, room, bedsheets, linens and toilet was clean. Only gripe was the hot water may get cut off unexpectedly, but staff was quick to respond. If you're staying on the second floor, the toilet bowl may feel... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
