We loved our stay at the Oba hotel last July. The staff were fantastic and very helpful in answering all our questions about this great city. I would highly recommend it. The manager was very knowledgable and gave us some great suggestions about our visit.

This is a small friendly hotel in the "old town", which makes yo feel like you're part of the family. The rooms are a good size and the breakfast is full of local produce. The staff were so helpful with directions and local eating places. The hotel is also very close to many of Istanbul's famous sites. Sure, there is no swimming... More

Stayed for 4 nights. Communication prior to arrival was excellent. Hotel arranged pickup upon arrival, and transfer at end of stay. Location was perfect: an 8-minute walk from the Hippodrome. Neighborhood is pleasant (children playing in the street during the day, quiet at night. I rather enjoyed the muezzin's calls from the adjacent mosque, although some light sleepers might find... My family and I spent a few days at the Oba Hotel and we can highly recommend it! The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times, and the owner went out of his way to give us helpful tips and explainations about Islamic culture. The hotel is very small, clean and family friendly. The free breakfast was a... More

I traveled to Istanbul by myself. As a single woman I felt safe in their care. Easy walking distance to all the old town sites, and really get the feel of how people live there. I appreciated the direct email confirmation, the helpful tips while I was there, and the complimentary water bottles. Lovely accommodation

Ismail welcomed us and took time to explain the sights of Istanbul, how useful that turned out for our days in this interesting city! A small boutique hotel with exceptional service, a nice breakfast, friendly staff, well equipped rooms with WIFI. Nothing seemed too much trouble, we can only strongly recommend to stay here. On top of it, it was... More

As other reviewers have already commented, this is a small 10 room hotel in the old part of the city. There is a lot of charm and character. The folks are friendly, welcoming and helpful, It's very handy for visiting the Blue Mosque etc (a short walk, albeit uphill). It's well preesented, very clean, with good breakfast. Wifi is excellent,... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
